Just flashed my evo, first time flasher

I just flashed my evo for the first time, I used warm 2.2, I am glad to say it worked like a charm. I was worried about bricking my phone but it could not have been easier using Rom manager. Just curious how to switch between roms as I am sure I am not done. I was shocked to see all of my programs and such were still in place, I thought flashing would make it start from scratch. So far so good.

If all your programs are still there, I'm assuming you didn't "Clear Data and Cache." You should ALWAYS do this when flashing a new ROM. It can lead to boot loops (phone won't boot) and other problems that sometimes can't be explained. You can back up your apps with Titanium Backup, so when you start off with a fresh ROM you just restore them and you are good. If you are worried about texts and such, there are apps that can back up texts also. You always want to wipe data and cache when installing a new ROM.

As for switching ROMs, just make a backup using ROM Manager or Nandroid first, then do the same thing as before. Install it via ROM Manager. You can download certain ROMs directly from ROM Manager. I suggest trying Cyanogen 6.1.1. I use it, and like it. Just make sure you wipe data and cache.

If you ever feel like going back, just restore to whatever backup you made.

Hey congratulations on your successful root and flash. hopefully it wasn't too painful... While Myn's is a beautiful ROM... if you want to venture away from a Sense based ROM and want to move to something stable you should try Vaelpak v2.3

It has some great features like
changing UI font
screen resolution
flashing OTA's
no wiping when swapping kernels thru VaelPak settings

there's a lot more, and Vaelek is working on an entirely new ROM, but in the meantime, Vaelpak is very stable... I'm running Myn's right now because I missed sense, but I notice it's a ***** glitchy and laggy. Sometimes Sense freezes and FC's... but that's alright i guess.

Also, with Vaelpak and the netarchytoastmod kernel 4.1.9-havs I'm able to get a quadrant score of 1725, fps are about 60 and it can process lines (MFLOPS) at about 41

Anyway... just giving you a heads up

I downloaded valpak and flashed over, played with it and am not thrilled yet, flashed back to warm but backed valpak up so u I can play with it more later.
