Just found this over at engadget

Wait a sec... what's this about an encrypted bootloader that needs a signed kernel etc?

I thought the bootloader was just locked and has been unlocked already?!

Verizon is more likely the culprit, and I bet it has to do with 4G LTE if nothing else. They are looking for ways to block the tethering and prevent the removal of their bloat.

While the phone is listed as 8GB of storage and we only got 2.5GB they are guilty of false advertising, worthy of a complaint to the FTC but a waste for anything else. I see the level of crapware only getting worse as time goes by.

ya that is getting out of control, someone has to do something about this.I can see then taking up some space but we are losing 5.5GB of space, that is absurd!

I read on a thread here, that a person noticed this on their thunderbolt and asked a vzw rep. The person indicated that they were told that it was a software glitch, and that what was being displayed was the space used instead of available space.
