Just got 200+ AC email notifications overnight

I installed tapatalk last night and for some reason, this caused me to get email notifications every time a post is created in AC. I think there's some spambot hitting AC overnight. In any case, I've disabled everything in tapatalk regarding notifications and also everything I can find on AC in my profile and setting but I'm still getting email notifications for new posts in the LG G4 forum. Any idea what's goin on here? Did tapatalk do something to make AC start sending me email notifications? What else do I need to do to get these email notifications to stop?

Hmm. Could it be Forum Notifications in Tapatalk settings, not the Android Central settings in Tapatalk. Back out of Android Central until you see your Tapatalk account name (if different) and a gear wheel. If you are on other forums with Tapatalk, it's that screen where they are listed.

I think this has stopped it. Not sure why tapatalk would turn this on somehow to begin with.

The email notifications you received, were they from threads you had posted or subscribed to within Tapatalk?

I just installed tapatalk. I didn't set anything up in it other than signing in. When I modified my settings after getting all the emails. Tapatalk had enabled a ton on notifications from within the app but I think those are separate from email notifications.

Gotcha. We need to look into why Tapatalk subscribed you to a bunch of threads automatically - that seems to be the key to the problem. With our new notification system, once you subscribe to a thread through the browser or the app you get an email notification unless you disable it (go to https://www.androidcentral.com/follow/ and uncheck Instant Email to permanently turn it off.)

But no notifications were turned on. When the new system was launched on Android Central /Mobile Nation I started getting mails about new posts, trending posts etc for these forums. I turned that off from the site (Android Central) and it hasn't bothered me since

I can add that after adding a few more subforums to my subscriptions I'm now getting lots of new notifications. They should be turned off in TapaTalk so I'm not sure what's wrong. But at the same time I'm also getting notifications via Chrome from AndroidCentral. So I'm pretty sure the site is involved somehow as well.

Right - adding a forum subscription via Tapatalk (or Following a forum on the desktop) tells the system you want to be notified of new threads in that forum. You can disable emails globally from https://www.androidcentral.com/follow/, or click the StopEmail link (one time for each forum subscription).

Thanks for the link, didn't find it on my first try.

Something funny I did notice there. I had already the setting "notify for new replies" turned off. However all old posts were added as something to notify me about. I'm guessing this could cause a bit of a hassle for users who are active. In my case everything seemed quite old and dead, so it was easier to leave them than to delete them
