Just got a tab!

I would wait to see it the tab 2 is for real or not. I agree the 7 inch dies make it a lot easier to take around. I might consider getting the Adam notion ink tab. Right now I am loving the galaxy tab.

So i bought the tab two weeks ago for $499 at Best Buy with the month to month but returned yesterday so i could have the money for upcoming items. However today in the Best Buy ads they were selling the Sprint one for $399 with the month to month no contract.

So i bought a new one, got 2 weeks to try it out and see how this goes and if i can bare with not having the newest and greatest....

But the greatest thing is, i had a $215 gc to best buy so it only ended up costing me $225 out my pocket out the door...

O and i got one question for you all, i was reading the pamphlet on Tabs that they have right next to the tablets at best buy, in the description of the specs it says the tab has a 1.2ghz processor, you think this is a mistake or that i caught a glimpse at the next one to come?

Wow I am very surprised, but not at the same time, that Best Buy has already dropped it again. Very surprised because it was just dropped to $499 ~2 weeks ago, but not surprised because the Xoom is on the horizon and competition is going to heat up more; and the supposed announcement of the tab 2 in Feb.

All I can say is I am VERY glad I returned my $549 sprint tab 2 weeks ago! Waiting on the sidelines is working out very well.

$400 is right around the price is should have been when it first came out. Now thats its finally a reasonable price I'm still not going to buy it since its at EOL.

Has anyone tried to use the regular 10%-12% coupons at best buy on a tab? Its not a contract phone... (unless you buy the on contract version of course). Its not marked as excluded in the fine print.

I love this form factor. 7 inches is perfect for me. Some people say it is the same experience as a smaller device, i.e.,phone running 2.2 Froyo. I disagree, there are some apps that are designed to take advantage of the screen size and are not just scaled up versions of the same app on ya phone. True, there aren't many, but you gotta believe they are coming. And even the ones that do "just scale up" look beautiful on the Tab. I am very excited to have this and have no buyers remorse at all. If we are lucky enough to get a couple of updates, that will only make the Tab that much better.

Yeah the size is really growing on me. It's soeasy to take with you anywhere. I just got a pretty nice case in the mail that I ordered on amazon for 20 bucks.

It is super portable. I was able to fit the tab in my back pocket of my jeans the other day w/ out a case of course. I am hoping for a couple of updates as well especially honeycomb.

I've had my tab for a while now, and even gave up my laptop. I have friends with iPads, and they are nice, but they are awkward, and hard to hold. Forget about being a portable device.

Jkurl is right. I stick mine in my coat pocket or back pocket in my pants (try not to sit on it, though). I take it everywhere. I know there are newer and "better" things on the horizon, but the tab, in it's current state, does everything I need it to do. I signed a contract with Sprint for the data, which I use when traveling, but 90% of the time, I am on wifi.

I even ordered the car mount for when I travel. I load music on it, and use GPS in the car. So far, so good.

Yeah I was going back and forth on keeping this or returning it and waiting for the xoom or other devices coming out in March and April. I decided I am keeping it. If you play the waiting game you can wait forever.

The 7" screen is also a great size. I wonder how I would feel about the larger models if I got one and tested it out because it already seemed large just from basic use in the store. It is super easy to use anywhere and is just like holding a paperback.

Touchwhiz is nice on this device too and the built in file and task manager apps are great.

I think that by the time we feel like we need an OS update with this device someone will have something on these forums that we can flash.

I prefer the size of the tab. I have used an iPad, and it becomes very cumbersome, and it becomes difficult to hold for extended periods of time. I use my tab in lieu of my laptop, as a music or video player, web browsing, reading books, just about everything.

I don't hardly use my desktop at home, and my data usage on my EVO has dropped to hardly anything at all. In another thread, someone dropped their smartphone when they got the Tab. I am considering this avenue myself.

I just don't know if I can go back to a "dumbphone." It has been so long since I had one. I see people with them and think, why are they still carrying that around? I know its silly, but I don't know if I can make the leap...

I'm thinking about it, though.

Do you miss your smartphone at all???

The tab has allowed me to kind of change what I use my incredible for.

I got a 32mb card for the tab. So I do most of my apps/videos and stuff on there.

I rooted my incredible so I don't need two data plans. I also have gotten rid of my nano and just put all my music on incredible.

My incredible now mainly acts as a real phone plus mp3 player/camera/gps

I had the old dumbphone in a drawer so I didn't have to buy another. I really like never having to worry about charging it during the day. With the tab and a dumbphone I can use my tab as a calendar and a scheduler for jobs when clients call. I couldn't really do that with the x only and I had to carry a little daytimer too. So that is extra bonus for me that most folks wouldnt need. I love it. I use a note program for job ordrrs and sent it via printsharer to the office printer and it gets processed. Very cool.

Nice. I will have to give this some serious consideration, after reading these comments. The other bonus would be that I could save myself from having to pay the EVO tax with Sprint (my phone is an EVO).

I have a couple of dumbphones at home, as I switch phones quite a bit (more often than my wife would like). Maybe I will try it out for a few weeks and see what happens. Thanks for the advice.

Starting end of this month all smartphones will have the extra $10 fee with Sprint, I believe. So unfortunately this is not a consideration anymore if you start a new contract/upgrade when this takes affect. :\

Yeah, I saw this. However, if I was to switch from my EVO, I would go to a "dumbphone," one that I would not use for anything other than phone calls. This way I would avoid the extra fee. Plus, I can simply switch phones, and do not have to do anything with a contract.
