just got an evo and need help

Maybe I missed something. The OP stated the Evo is NOT rooted. Its not possible to zip something to your stock OS. That's why we root.

Yes you can do that, pretty much what I was saying to do before with more detailed instructions. Be sure to have your battery charged up first. If it still don't work for any reason you can take it into your local sprint store and they will update to software to 3.70 for free.
