Made the jump from iOS and couldn't be happier but do have some questions. I didn't save a contacts list before wiping my iPhone but I did manage to get most of my contacts/phone numbers through facebook. Does anyone know whether these contacts are stored in the phone or whether I have to be connected to a 3G/4G network (or wifi) to have access to them.

Second, I put some music and podcasts into the phone but it looks like the podcasts were not separated from the songs in the media player. I like to listen to my music in shuffle/random setting and to the podcasts separately. I am afraid that it'll play a podcast when I just want to listen to music, can anyone recommend a good media player. The iPod on the iPhone was really good and I'd like to have as close to that capability as possible.

Also, the phone was already updated to 4.0.4 when I got it but it still says I have Sense 4.0 (not 4.1), I thought both of them were updated together. Either way it's not a big deal to me but was wondering if this is just a typo or if I'm just missing something.

You can sync your contact with facebook in Accounts and Sync. But I don't recommend it. I recommend syncing with Google, because at least they don't reveal your contacts to the world.

Sync means Sync. Your contacts are on the phone as well as on facebook or google. Any change made one place will show up in the other place.

You want to get a podcast app to manage podcasts. It will keep them out of your music. I like Pocket Casts, but there are dozens of these apps.

Music players are also a dime a dozen. One came with your phone. But also check out Google Music. 20,000 songs on line for free in your google music account, which are then available on your phone for streaming or "pinning" to the device.

If you have the AT&T of the HOX, then version Sense 4.0 is the current version. The international version has 4.1 but its not dramatically different.

Thanks for the reply, I pocket casts is exactly what I was looking for.

I've got a few more:
1. What's a good toggle (for switching bluetooth, wifi, etc. on/off) app to use? I'd prefer it to appear in the settings pull down if possible.
2. Any way to make chrome my default browser for opening links?
3. Any way to make Web addresses appear as hyperlinks in emails in the mail app? I don't really like the idea of having to select the whole thing.

Sent from my HTC One X.

Switchpro widget will let you put a customizable widget of whatever toggles you want, in the notification area. Best option I have seen on Sense to get the toggles up there.

SETTINGS-APPS
Find the BROWSER app and click the CLEAR DEFAULTS button. This should clear any previous settings you may have done to ALWAYS OPEN WITH BROWSER so you can reselect Chrome.

I think there may be, with a different version of the email.apk app. If you are using Gmail, switch to the Gmail app... anything else, I think you may have to go third party or try the email.apk app from one of the custom ROMS. I think they have that working via a "work around". I think that particular omission is thanks to Apple suing HTC isn't it? Since making a hyperlink clickable should be patentable ;) I think HTC had to remove that to get a batch of phones through customs or something. Hopefully someone has the scoop on this one, as I do not use the email app.

EDIT- I see K-9 referenced as a good 3rd party email app with the links displaying correct. My very brief searching indicated that it can be fixed, if you are rooted and edit some files. I would look at K-9 or another app as the easier solution.

Plus one for K-9.

It will handle multiple mail accounts, even handles encryption, and handles attachments and links perfectly.
