So I just got my Hero after returning my Palm Pre. I love it so far, but I've been reading about all this new Android 2.0 stuff, and mine is 1.5. So, can I do a firmware upgrade when 2.0 comes out via the settings menu or do I have to get an all new phone to get the upgrade? Also, there is a 1.6 version out too, can I get that update on my phone? When I go to firmware update, it says I am running the latest version.

Thanks for the help guys, love the site so far and am definitely loving Google and Android!

All the Sprint Heros ship with 1.5. Updates will have to be made avaialble by HTC. For what it's worth, I heard a rumor there may be a 1.6 update around the end of October.

Heard the same rumor from a Sprint Tech Support guy. It's a wait and see game, hopefully they do it OTA or they'll be leaving us Mac guys out of the upgrade game.

Why is that ERDude? I own a mac as well, & would like to know why we wouldn't be able to download an update off htc's site when it's available.

Um, ok lol. I have no idea what that means cause i'm not too knowledgeable on all this stuff. I'll take your word for it though.

I love my mac, was tired of all the virus stuff on pc, but it sucks a lot of things aren't compatible with them. Oh well, that's life.

Just use Boot Camp on your Mac and install Windows. No reason why you can't run Windows on a Mac when you need to.

I'm trying Parallels right now (works well) and am looking forward to the upcoming release of VMWare 3.0. Both provide fairly seamless access to Windows.

Luckily Sprint will update your phone for you if you take into a service center.
