Seriously, this phone is an absolute pleasure in most respects, quicker nicer screen and almost everything is much better than the 9 year old Note 8 that I was using for the last 9 years!

That being said, this thread is so I can get some help trying to understand some of the "bad" things about this experience that are perplexing to me. Maybe I can get some help from some of you wiz kids. Maybe I'm overlooking something but here it goes:

1

Using the pen to smart select a square/rectangular area on my Note 8 was perfect. I could download and then send perfectly cropped pictures. The "AI" select is complete garbage for selecting a rectangular area. It takes way longer and is laborious by comparison. how could they not retain the physical action button for selecting a square? This is not progress.

I have successfully placed a calculator and flashlight button on my lockscreen, the flashlight is a 100% necessity in my life, and it worked flawlessly on my note 8. The S24 won't let me use either button on the lock screen. It just endlessly prompts me for a fingerprint to unlock it. Is this a bug? You've got to be kidding me, the buttons show up for the light and the calculator, but they won't let me use them. This shouldn't be hard at all. This is dumb.

this isn't exactly a Samsung issue, but I had this awesome app called "Alarm Clock Plus" and when I directly put those words into the play store, that app doesn't show up at all for me. Why would this have gone anywhere? I don't understand. I know it's been a long time since I downloaded it, but I didn't transfer all my apps from my old phone because the phone kept telling me it didn't have enough room to do the transfers, so I just didn't transfer the apps.

Please let me know if there is something that I'm missing.

thanks,

So I finally figured out #2, you now have to press and hold the button, and swipe it toward the center of the phone. No idea when this was changed but it is a step in the opposite direction. Pressing the button worked fine and great, and there was no need to complicate it by making a swipe into the center of the phone.
