Just got mine

I've had mine for a week now, and I'm Loving it. Stupid fast and no real complaints from a total Android rookie standpoint. I'm sure the "experts" have things to fault, but I Love mine.

I have had a problem with it occasionally not turning back on from sleep when I press the unlock button, and then while I press it a few times in an attempt to turn it back on, it restarts. Really annoying and I have no idea why it's happening. Any ideas?

Other than that, I'm absolutely loving the phone. Especially coming from a blackberry.

Mine has done that exact same thing! I thought it was just me or my case holding the button pushed in

I've had mine for a couple of weeks and I can say that it's the best phone I've ever had. It beats out my iPhone 4 by a long shot! I'm extremely happy with Android and I reeeeeally enjoy Sense. Glad to hear from another happy Vivid user. :)

This is my first day using it and it seems like the battery died awfully fast.... Hopefully it will last longer tomorrow. Any battery saving tips? I have juice defender installed and set up. My WiFi and Bluetooth were off all day. Is there anyway to turn off 4G and just use 3G? Most of the day I don't really need the super fast data speeds. Thanks!

becandl,

I run w/ WiFi, BT, and GPS on all day; normally I'll get about 18 hours (0500 - 2300). However, I don't normally have a lot of time to play games. When I do, it sucks the life out of the battery quickly, but so did my Atrix and Nexus One. I think 4G/LTE uses more battery than WiFi, but I could be wrong about that. I'm connected via WiFi 90% of the day so my battery life might differ. I've also got a MetaWatch, which is connect via BT all the time, so my BT is being used regularly. 5 email accounts, twitter, and G+ throughout the day.

I think it comes down to what apps you are using and how often. Also, your battery life will improve after you shift from 'cool new gadget' mode to 'using it everyday' mode. :)

I haven't noticed my coming alive slowly after being in sleep mode. However, I could see a situation if you had a bunch of things running (ie. video player, music player, games) that hadn't been closed it could potentially come slow to opening. If you think that is the case, press the power button once and give it a few seconds.

Thanks for your help! Can someone clarify if WiFi uses less battery than 4G? Because if that's true, I'm around WiFi all day and I could easily use that. I'm hoping it was just because it was the first discharge cycle for the most part. Charging it back up now, we will see how it goes. Thanks again!

To becdanl; I'm sure that one of the available LTE toggles in the android market should work. I do not know for a definite but I would think so. I hope it helps and works out for you. I am gouig to get my Vivid in 2 weeks and cannot wait. Also check within the mobile networks settings for a toggle, my thunderbolt has it which is also an HTC phone.

Just got my White one last Thursday
Im not a noob to android or smartphones in general
I can honestly say this is my favorite phone hands down.
I had the infuse but when this phone came out I used my 30day return window to get the vivid and could not be happier.

Definitely go WiFi whenever you can. It's faster and doesn't pull your battery down as fast. Getting the phone through a couple of charging cycles should improve your duty time. Pull the phone down into the red and recharge it to condition the battery. I find myself running mine on external power whenever I can just on general principles. I mean, if it's available, why not use it?

My battery seems to have gotten alot better after a weeks use. I had it go down as far as 6%, which would have shut my Inspire down around 10 to 12. Really liking this phone. Very smooth and easily my best phone ever.

regarding the battery death. i have found out a couple of things. when there is no 4g signal the phone keeps on looking for the 4g signal so that eats up the battery fast. also, the amount of juice the battery can hold, from my experience so far, gets better each time you charge it.

Is there any way you can turn off 4G on the Vivid? I have tried a few toggles from the market and they don't seem to work. I don't need 4G all the time, and would like to just change it to 3G to save some battery.

Not easily no, not unless you get into the hidden program menus and what

I never turn off my transmitters unless I'm turning my phone completely off. If I'm in a bad signal area, and I have access to power, I'll plug up to keep the battery topped off.

I had a BlackBerry Torch 9810 and it had some issues so I brought it back to my local ATT store and got the Vivid instead. This thing runs circles around the Torch and so far, I'm absolutely loving it!

Mine is in white and I use a saFPWR Fusion 2 case with it.
