I've wanted to upgrade my Nexus 4 lately and had narrowed it down to the Note 3, Nexus 5, and this phone. Of all of them I was most impressed by the Z1 on paper. Now that I have it home in my hot little hands, I'm even more impressed! Everything about this phone screams premium. On the hardware side it's one of the most premium looking and feeling phones you can get. And Sony have really stepped up to the plate on specs. I only have one minor criticism so far and that's the loudspeaker sound quality isn't anything to write home about. Display is stunning as it should be on one of the newer 1080p phones.

Software side I have to say I'm completely blown away. Optimization is fast as hell, this phone is moving just as fast as my previous Nexus phones with not a hiccup so far no matter what I throw at it. Benchmarks are chart topping. And the polish in all aspects of Sony's fork of Android is a premium experience in the general UI but even when going deeper into the dialer, sms, notification panel, app drawer, keyboard and many other things are just superbly refined. I love the Sony photo gallery, and Walkman music player. Incredibly well done Sony!
I want to give a special mention to Sony's set of special features I've encountered so far. Small apps are really handy multitasking tools, and the ability to customize my quick settings is greatly appreciated. Also as a PS3 owner Sony phone features for us are pretty cool as well

Sony really does a nice job. When I had my Xperia Tablet Z I was really really impressed with it and it remained problem-free. Congrats on the new acquisition.

The Z1 and GN3 are head and shoulders above a N5. I have both and cant really decide which one I like better. The Z1 had a heating issue that almost made me return it. Is yours experiencing any over heating?

Nothing today, I've been using it non stop both plugged and unplugged for the last 8 hours. My N4 ran warmer than this

Just a tip for you guys, I wouldn't bother with the PlayStation mobile app. It creates a PlayStation network account on your phone that constantly signs you in every time you use other Sony apps like the Walkman music player etc.

There's not really any movies, games, music, apps etc that you can't already get from Play Store
