Just got my Note 8

just verified the battery leak on wifi. I used to be able to do a lot and only lose 1% or 2%. this morning after doing hardly anything it was at 88%. it's never gone that low for me. I have spent hours on it while driving and streaming and it was still only at 94% when I got home. google messed it up for sure.

So what you're saying is turn off WiFi till its fixed? also could you check out my battery screen shots I posted in the battery life getting better post thanks

I'm at about an hour. It's not much, but my idle time is what has really improved. I was losing over 5% an hour before with the phone just sitting.

awesome! I think I'm going to do a factory reset tonight or tomorrow. And then Go from there

I'm in the same boat as you my friend. I switched from the iPhone X, which would last a full day with a good amount of usage. The Note 8 is not holding up to that, the battery % drops so quickly. An hour drive last night and lost 3% doing nothing. Please let me know if the factory reset helped you, I did the smart switch from my X to the note 8 so Idk if that could be the issue
Shoot that's pretty decent. Don't read into battery percentages too much. Apple inflates the 100%-90% and then tracks pretty regular until 10-5%.

battery. it' has been reported and Google knows, but has said nothing. assume a fix is coming once they get their act together. and yes, users have reported battery drain. this IS the issue, as I understand it.
So what's the issue and how to stop it? I don't even notice anything

I feel like the battery shouldn't just be dropping like that with nothing going on, and yes I know there is background activity with apps sync'ing but most of that is turned off. I just wanna get more then 3-4 hours of screen on time and still enjoy AOD... is that to much to ask lol

Lol. I only achieved that your asking with about a month of charge cycles. Also make sure you don't have any apps using more then 0.1% of battery life per hour.

what I was told, by the person who alerted me, is to keep wifi off as much as possible.

not an issue for me since I keep it on my wireless charger when not in use. needed to do something intense this morning that I hadn't done since the update and was really surprised, for the short amount of time I was using it how far it fell. it's cautionary, though, for long trips away and heavy use. wasn't worried about charging, and I now I am. so no long wifi sessions away from a charger until they roll a fix. took three months for this one.

you need to ask someone else about the screenshots. just wanted to let folks know about this.

Do some reading about how to maximize the life of Lithium Ion batteries. Running on the battery if there is an opportunity to use the phone while plugged into a power source is just plain idiotic. Letting it run down is absolutely the worst possible thing to do. When sitting at a desk or somewhere near a power source having it always plugged in, will automatically turn off the charging once it reaches 100% and you can use it for long periods of time running just on the charging cable and giving the battery a rest. That's why you should leave it on the wireless charger or plugged into a charger overnight when sleeping as well - so all night long, the phone's battery is not forced to do work for no reason at all. The only time when the above is not really true is if you plan on replacing your phone every year. Then it doesn't really matter, as long as you don't repeatedly let the phone completely run out of juice.

Treating my phone the way I have as mentioned above, I've had phones 3 years old with batteries that perform as though they are brand new. That last statement is proof this is clearly the best way to treat a lithium ion battery.

I agree with your strategy and usually never let my device get below 70%. I have read that leaving it plugged in overnight is a bad idea so I don't do that but I keep it on a wireless charger as much as possible during the day and top it off every morning b4 leaving the house.
