Just got this Virgin Mobile text..

This, and if you do root/flash custom roms or use tethering, please, just please use it for emergencies, don't tether your PS3 or your XBOX, using 20+GB's of data, because that's what really hurts all of us.

I agree, this is not really about the rooting, it's more or less about the tethering.
Tethering has been against the rules since day one.

Don't exceed your data quota and odds are they won't say anything. They don't bother Sprint users for it, so long as they aren't going cray, so I doubt they will bug us. I suspect all of the carriers know not to press the issue on tethering because if they end up in court over it, they will lose.

As for rooting and roms, it has absolutely zero effect on them (except when people return them for stupid reasons, which is the real reason for that rule). If you think rooting being against the rules will make me stop doing it, you obviously haven't seen my phone.

This doesn't really have anything to do with the evo... just stop with the conspiracies. As has been explained several times, this is just a clause so that they don't have to replace the phones of people who screwed while romming.

Lets not get people riled up over nothing. We don't need the masses panicking. There's nothing we can do about it anyway except leave IF they kick people off (which is extremely unlikely).

This reminds me sort of the argument between Apple and jailbreaking their products. If we maybe had a contract it would be different, but we 100% own our phones so we should be able to do anything we want to them.

I love how people argue when they are on the same side. Pages end up people saying the exact same thing. lol

Yes, and Apple lost. Jailbreaking and rooting are both completely legal for now. I'm not sure when the DCMA exception will expire (this year?) but I'm pretty sure it will get renewed with added devices such as tablets and game consoles.

Correct.. your so smart LeslieAnn here's a treat.. My ugly lens covered evo armor.. Man if I could get that dude on the horizontal I could wear it as a helmet lmao.. can't wait Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Ballistic HC Hard Core Case with Holster and Built-in Video-Stand for the HTC EVO 3D - Black / Gray

Now that's ugly!!

I'm sure it protects well, but it's a beast!
I'm just going to run thin, like I always do, and only use a screen saver. That thing wouldn't fit in my pockets.

Open Close Open Close.. Fun :) LeslieAnn as you have a design 4g (Evo 4G) in it's native environment and beyond I have some questions for you I will save for another thread..

Just so you know you can buy shares of sprint for under $2.50 each Monday.. It's going to $5.00 imo.. Your gonna be rich!! Still Clearwire at under 1.20 a share is the one to watch.. Dang thing went up over 11% Fri!! Yepper you heard it here first from uncle context hehe..

I'm wanting to get in now with this launch as I believe it will be huge and think these guys will kick butt over the next few year on the prepaid end alone.. The new Lte handsets are still in international hands so all bets are on hold for most till the brew haha is over.. Is LTE that good?? IDK.. Is it a game changer?? IDK.. Is 4G prepaid a big deal? Yes if you get it where you live..This new tos is a buzz kill right now.. Folks need time to shake it off Time will tell..

Yes are they the same however like the 3D vs Evo V? All I have seen says yes other than the ROM :) Gonna make a T shirt that says:
GOT ROOT? And the VM No Rooting TOS clause on the other side just so you'll know me when you see me lol.. Hey or I should insert a pic in my profile for easier "Laser" lock from the Derootatron.. But I like to call it "Preperation "H" Just to see if that dogs gonna hunt or not.. Wouldn't suggest it hehe..

Ok copy write protection on the Derootatron lol my new word but you may use it as a free gift.. Epic random fail on context again sorryz ;) Maybe I should turn the derootatron on and then hold the world hostage till they pay me 1!! Million!! Dollars Muah hahahaha Muaaah ha ha ha!!

Evo 4g 512 ram/1gig storage
Evo Design .75gig ram/4gigs storage

While a descendant of the Evo 4G, the Design wasn't the replacement for it, the Evo 3d was the Evo 4g's replacement. Evo 4g was top of the line, as was the 3d, the Design was a lower level offering. It's specs were better than the Evo 4g because it came out over a year later. The Evo LTE is the direct descendent of the Evo 4g and Evo 3d, early prototypes of the LTE even had 3d cameras, but Sprint ordered that removed because of perception of the Evo 3d.

The Evo 3d and VM Evo V are identical, but may have a hardware revision. It certainly has a firmware update, which Evo 3d users tried flashing, causing lots of issues, but for the most part, other than rom, they are identical. Next month, the 3D is expected to get a firmware and rom update, that is expected to match the Virgin rom.

Virgins no-root policy is over a year old, your protest is a bit late to the party. Tethering has also been against the rules for longer than that, it was only changed to reflect that they now offer it as an option. Most carriers dislike rooting, and they hate tethering, even if you pay for it. They also hate Netflix.

Their (vmu) probably losing customers just by threatening us. I've been on vm for more than 2 years. They've made over $600 dollars off of the service I've been paying for and more then $400 off of new phones I've bought. I seriously doubt they'd do that to us! I mean come on we're loyal to them!
