I'm following [How to] Rooting HTC EVO Froyo 2.2 (Windows)
and all was well. Prompt came on the phone startup screen to restart after everything was unzipped, and then came the "triangle exclamation point" That's bad right??? any help would be great. -as I continue to search-

held down volume down and power after re-inserting battery and phone went to home screen. went automatically into hboot and asked if I wanted to start the update. I selected yes and it is unzipping PC316IMG. Bootloader has been Bypassed, and Radio_V2 has a Fail-PU. All other systems are OK. I am not going to reboot the device with a fail message, correct?

How new is your phone? You probably have the new bootloader.

Go here http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...ttention-root-new-root-method-new-hboots.html for instructions on how to check your bootloader, and root it if its the correct one.

If you do have the bootloader for the link i just gave you, i recommend running an RUU first. Just to be sure. (you can find it in the unrooting sticky.) Use this http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Sup...0.09.01_NV_1.77_003_release_157088_signed.exe ruu

My Hboot is a 2.02.0000
I've already done most of that hard work for the "root like a pro" The only thing I didn't have was the unresolved-forever downloaded

I'm not sure exactly where your at but do adb reboot in command prompt and it'll dump you into your phone again.

Nothing good yet. Right now, I am trying to work around the "device not found" message in my CMD prompt. And the fact that the RUU I downloaded will not run...sends me a 5001-0x80070002 error message. Good times

Hey fellas, thanks for showing up. Allright, along with help through the day from @KSmithInNY, I hope you all can help bring me home. I've decided I'd be better off trying to put my EVO back to stock, so I've taken my SDcard out and put it in my PC. I see the items I put in there and from what I understand, i need to install the latest pc36img in the root of the SDcard. Question is, where do i get that latest version?

That multiupload site is pretty sketchy to me. Every button that says download gives me some other sh!te I don't want or need. and I can't seem to download what is in the middle of the friggin field. A little help?

Its fine, I've used the site many times just click on the megaup load one and enter the code at the top right then wait for your link

Downloading in process. When I go onto my SD thru the PC, do I manually delete the pc36img.zip I put on last night along with the mtd.eng? The next step is to drop the new pc36img anywhere in the folder, right. Damn, I do sound like a complete n00b.

Just put in on the root of the sd card, if you run into trouble format the sd

When I click reboot, will I have a rooted EVO???
