I asked when this phone is gonna be available because I want to switch from Sprint to T-Mobile and she says "sometime mid summer". I tell her about the pre registry that was uplast week to get the free car kit and $100 back that you have to have bought the phone by the 26th and traded in your old one and she says "yeah, that's just to gurantee you a phone when it releases." Has anybody went to a store and heard the same or different? I'm thinking about just using my Sprint upgrade and shell out $200 if this is true.

I mean I would say if you really want the device but don't want to switch yet because of the uncertainty, you have a couple options that I would consider:

1: wait

2: upgrade with sprint
A) if 2 weeks later t-mobile releases the device take your sprint model back and switch
B) if t-mobile doesn't release it for more than a month, sell your sprint one to pay the etf and help cover the cost of getting one on t-mobile (depending on how you're purchasng)

3: switch over to t-mobile now and get a device to hold you over

4: wait

You are going to be spending a lot of money doing what the user said above..

Just wait it out .. If you don't hear anything by the 19th or 25th just stick it out with Sprint.. At least their LTE is out there compared to T-Mobile just starting

No he wouldn't if he did options 1 and 4. I did suggest to wait first. But I just presented him with all the options. Nothing wrong with that because people on these forums make a lot of bad financial decisions for phones.

The term LTE means nothing. You can have LTE with slow speeds too. My point? T-Mobile's 4G HSPA 42Mbps network is consistently getting the same , or faster, speeds than Sprint's LTE.

So i would actually say the better option is T-Mobile because almost all of their network is covered in HSPA+, while most of Sprint's is still in 1990's dial up speeds (literally). When T-Mobile tolls out LTE largely, it will just be another plus. But honestly, they don't need to do that really.Their speeds where I am at, AND where i travel to are all on par with AT&T and Verizon LTE speeds. And that's without LTE on T-Mobile. I think they are doing the LTE thing for marketing purposes, kind of like the megapixel myth, there is the LTE speed myth (for the moment). Look up videos on youtube of T-Mobile HSPA 42 vs. LTE.

This sucks. I'm waiting to switch 4 lines over to T-Mobile. It's all balancing on the release of this phone! Frustrating....

There is also the option of buying an unlocked version from HTC and using that with a T-mobile SIM card. It will cost more up-front, but since T-mobile is doing the no-contract thing anyway, it's not like your phone will be subsidized.

Yeah that's what I'm doing. I already switched to t-mobile but this is exactly what I did. I'm not doing their monthly payment plan thing because that's almost like being under contract.

Don't listen to a damned thing store reps say. When my girlfriend and I were in a Verizon store shortly after the iPhone 5 launch, I overheard a rep explaining some of the features of the phone to a couple of young customers. The salient points:

1. The screen is larger because it has more megapixels.

2. The back is made of titanium.

3. The 4S and the 5 both have one gigabyte of RAM.

4. Video on the 4S in rendered in DVD quality and on the 5 in Blu-Ray quality?

It boggles the mind.

It's called lying to make a profit, and you see this stuff all the time usually with young or older people who don't know any better. They don't care as long as they get your money.

The OP can go to T-Mobile if he desire.. i wouldn't do it and end up paying ETF right now since we don't even know when T-Mobile will carry the device. It would suck to go 2-3 weeks without a phone or a loaner that they will give you(free flip phone).

Far as network goes it all depends where the OP lives.. he might live in a area where T-Mobile gets great voice and 42Mbs HSPA+ data since he switching to them.

But if the OP is on Sprint then he knows how it was when Sprint switch from Wimax to LTE so he/she knows what they are getting themselves into i hope far as that..

Funny thing is something they don't be lying on purpose. Some are really clueless. I remember a rep trying to tell me once an iPhone is jailbroken it can never be updated because it couldn't be restored and you have to take it to apple to restore. I was like come on man.

This is true. I was so tempted to barge in and say something like, "Dude, get the hell out of my way while I explain the phone correctly and accurately to these nice people so they can make an intelligent, informed decision. Go get a cup of coffee, and while you're at it, do a little research before opening your trap again."

Funny story was in a sprint store a month ago someone brought in their iPhone and said the screen wouldn't rotate when he rotated the phone. Sprint rep looked at it all around and gave it back and said 'not sure of the error you'll have to call apple' asked the owner if I could see his iPhone and turned off rotation lock in about 10 seconds and problem solved. Another time I asked about the HTC one like 2 months ago and the guy said 'early june'.. Sprint people are dumb!

Don't stop with just Sprint employees. I know this young lady who works at our local T-Mobile store and for months she's been telling everybody that T-Mobile had absolutely no interest in the iPhone. I mean, she was vociferous about it. She's probably still in denial. I mention the iPhone because this is the phone in question. She's an *****.

Wow - your filters are strong here! That was just a five-letter word starting with "i" and ending in "t."

Don't get me wrong. I've owned every generation of the iPhone and have been very happy with them - jailbroken. However, I'm tired of chasing jailbreaks. I test an Android phone each year, so maybe this will be the "One" to finally lure me away. :)

I'll never fully commit to a platform. I'll but this. Ill moat likely will try the S4 at some point as well as the next iPhone and nexus devices. That's just who I am lol.

Same here. I have no brand loyalty, but the iPhone has served me well for a while.

Same here, sprint rep told me 3rd quarter release date for the one.

I've ran into both good and very bad Rep's so it's always good to be well informed when making a purchase
