I am on Verizon in a family plan and am sick and tired of the stupid stuff Verizon does to their phones (removing features and adding bloat) and the way they delay OS updates. I am hoping the 5X resolves these issues. Since I do not have a nano sim, my plan is to take my wife's old Iphone 5S and get a new sim card for it. Then, I will transfer the new sim card to the 5X. Wish me luck!

Also a Verizon Family Plan guy with 5 cells and a "home phone" on my account. Right now I pay $30 per line with a $10 discount for 4 lines not having a smartphone, and my wife's iPhone has 2 GBs data and costs $40. I will abandon my flip-hone Samsung Convoy 3 tomorrow when my Nexus 5X 32 GBs (cost was $330 on eBay!)arrives and join the smart phone world finally. My $30 less $10 line should go to the regular $40 line fee and I should get 2 GBs so my wife and I will share the 4 GBs. Plan to march into the local Verizon store tomorrow with the new phone and ask them to install a SIM for the Nexus with my current Convoy number and pay the $20. Question? I D/Led my Convoy phone contacts to a .csv Excel file. Need to figure how to get them into the new Nexus 5X. Anybody done this or have links t instructions?
Addded 6 Mar 16: Went to the Verizon store an paid the $19.99 and had them put in a chip. Prolem was that i had not setup phone to only d/l with WiFi and immediately as they tried to pass my phone contacts form my flip-phone Samsung Convoy3, they worked ro about 3/4 hour and coundn't do it. When I went home, I found I was charged 1/4GB data use and went over my limit! They did not, as I asked them to, and they said they did, change my account from 2 GB to 4GB (for my wife's old iPhone and this new Nexus 5x)! I fixed that at home finally. Got the account set up OK. New issue is how to set up my Cox email on this phone. I don't want to use GMail, but there is a proble with Cox I will ask on the font page.

My plan worked to perfection. Activated the Iphone 5S first and then inserted the sim card into 5X. It activated immediately. Cannot believe Verizon will not sell this phone. Control freaks I assume is the reason why. They want to install their bloatware and control all updates. At least with Android...

Congratulations! I was nervous about having issues activating and using the phone with Verizon. I read too many complaints and issues on here but I took the plunge and it worked. The only thing I had to do was activate the feature so you can use data while on a call. If you need help doing that ask on here. Don't ask Verizon. I chatted with someone from Verizon and they had no clue what they were doing. I figured it out before they were even close. While I love the great service and coverage I get with Verizon I would prefer to use someone else. I'm thinking about trying Project Fi.

I have a Verizon V10 and a 6P and have no issues jumping back and forth between them. The Verizon folks at the corporate store always eyeball me when I come in with the Nexus on my line, but I've had a very good experience with Verizon and my 6P.

Coming from a G4, I actually see the 5X as a downgrade in many ways. But not having Verizon bloatware and timely updates from Google makes the 5X worth it.

I wanted the 5X, but couldn't justify it with owning the 6P. I got my LG flavoring with the V10, but I'm considering returning it after I see the LG reveal for the G5. The 6P is superior by far. Huawei nailed that one right on the head.

I just purchased a 5x coming from a G4. Im aware that its a lateral move, but I've had so many problems with my G4 that Im hoping a stock android experience will fix. The only thing that has me semi-worried is the 2GB of ram. I don't have a ton of apps, and don't play games so Im hoping i won't notice it too much. But for me to stay on android, I think it has to be on a bloat free, bone stock phone.

I'm doing the same thing except with a Droid Turbo 2 and a 6P. How do you keep your call logs and messages synced between your two devices for when you switch between them? I'm still looking for a solution that doesn't involve using SMS backup every single time, it's too clunky.

I too regularly switch between phones (not Verizon) and I'm with you- the only solution I've found is SMS backup. I've found that just keeping a month or so texts on my phones is all I need and makes the process of backing up and restoring quicker. I have a "master" back up of all my texts saved on my google drive just in case I need them.

I would like a more seamless process too.

I take it back. I do not get my Voicemail notification on the 5X. I get a text message from VZW. You have to resetup Visual Voicemail on the Android phone if this bothers you. It doesn't bother me. I know when I get the text that I have a voicemail.
