Just paid at 7-11 using Google wallet on my GN

So, with Google Wallet, you have to put money in there from your credit card? You can't just put your credit card to the account and have it auto charge it?

This would be awesome. I loaded this up yesterday and can't wait to try it out. I didn't see anyway to auto charge so I think you can only load it.

So question, and it maybe dumb but, do you have to have a MasterCard linked to your GoogleWallet account to use the PayPass deal, or will it work with other credit cards thru GoogleWallet? Thanks

You can add money to the google account with a "non-mastercard" account, plus they credit 10 dollars to what they term as a google "debit" card

It is very cool

Kudos to those at xda forum in spite of Verizon

Might have to go to 7-11 to try tomorrow. But question. Do you simply take phone(in sleep) and put to machine? Or do you have to open the app?

Thanks ahead. Don't wanna look like a idiot buying a Slurpee..

You have to wake the phone first. You don't have to open the app, though. Once your phone is awake, simply place it on the pad, and press the button to pay when it pops up.

You know the major reason it's not on the phone is because it's not as secure as it should be. There is an independent report out saying that while it protects all but the last 4 digits of your card #, a ton of information about you is out there.

Enough to steal identity's etc..

Just used it at 7-11 again and the guy behind the counter this time was freaking out about how cool it was that I could pay with my phone.

Right now thw only other card you can add to a account is a Citi Master Card. It does say more cards coming soon but I'm guessing those will also be Master Card.

Now what would really make Google Wallet awesome would be if you could connect it to your PP account!

I have a credit card that you could just hold up to the receiver and pay. But it didn't work all the time, so I would end up just swiping the card. If you hold up your phone and it doesn't take, you're SOL especailly if they don't know what you're doing.

That would be really funny. I could see the confused face now. o.O

I'm finding my self opening Paypass locator and going out of my way to use the wallet. Is so cool using it to pay for stuff and watching the cashiers reaction.
This one cashier at cvs was beside herself. She asked me what kind of phone that was and where she could get one. After showing her the phone and saying its the only phone (besides the S) that can do this, she said she was gonna get one tomorrow. lol

A Galaxy Nexus convert.

I went to McDonald's last night after installing the Wallet apk. Actually, I went to two different McDonald's locations.

First time I went to order an actual meal. I tried to use the NFC chip with my Otterbox Defender case on. No dice. I thought I followed the instructions per the app, but the app didn't pull up or anything, so I paid by regular debit card.

I decided I was pretty damn determined to try this thing out, so I went to a different McDonald's to order a coffee (peppermint mocha, FYI). This time I had the Wallet app opened and I took the phone out of the Defender case and it worked flawlessly! Really quick. There were a bunch of people standing in line around me and they got really quiet all of a sudden when I paid for my coffee just by laying my phone on the credit card terminal.

So now that I knew that the app and NFC worked, I decided to put my phone back in the Defender case. I got up the courage to go back up to the register and asked for a bag of cookies (yes, a bag of cookies...) so I can start another transaction, this time with the phone in the case. The Wallet app and the reader were trying to communicate but the transaction just wouldn't go through. The cashier seemed a little peeved because she had to get a manager to void the transaction. So that kinda killed my showing-off...

So moral of the story: It doesn't work very well with the Otterbox Defender, which makes it kind of a hassle for me because I don't like to carry a naked phone or take the time to take it out of the case to pay for something.

Sad: "No siri not where is food, PAY for my food!" If you see one of these in a McDonalds, try to be polite;)

I'm assuming PP is PayPal? If so, they do use Mastercard for their credit/debit...so maybe someday...?

Yes PayPal, that would be awesome. I don't like having to add money before I use it. Would be so much better if they took out what you used.

Near me is McDonalds, Jack In The Box, Whataburger, CVS, Home Depot, Best Buy, and one Kroger Fuel that really is out of the way. Would be nice if some more companies used it. Vending machines would be awesome!

By the way the technology has been around forever! Somebody above posted about using it with a credit card, I had a little thing that hung on my key chain that did this at the gas station, just put it up to a location on the pump. This was at least 10 plus years ago (can't remember which stations).
