Just paid at 7-11 using Google wallet on my GN

I used mine at Mcdonalds yesterday for breakfast...the lady took my order, walked away then came back and was like is that debit or credit..i said i used my phones paypass and she looked at me and said as a question "really?"..

i thought it was funny but it works so smoothly, once i woke the phone up, i put it against the debit machine then the app opened and the screen on the machine changed to a thank you or something...then i entered my pin and asked her if i was good and that it was my first time using it to pay and she yep....I gotta hand it to google, giving $10 free to anybody that loads it up is pretty gangster

Just used it at 7-11 again and the guy behind the counter this time was freaking out about how cool it was that I could pay with my phone.

So did you repurchase a GN after supposedly returning your second faulty on?
I read your post bashing it on the 18th in the posts about someone returning their Nexus. Then on the same day you posted in the RAZR forums from your RAZR.

I am just confused about the timeline of some of your posts.

I tried at a McDonalds today, but the transaction wouldn't complete. I had the app open and pin entered, held it up to the pad when it was ready for payment, and the screen said it sent the information but the register wouldn't take it...pretty lame. When the phone wasn't close enough to the pad it said it detected a reader...put the back up to the reader and it said send...after a few failed attempts, I just paid cash :(

I would only use Google Wallet if there are people behind me. Then I can make them jealous.

This was what happened when I tried to do it with the Otterbox Defender case on. Otherwise it worked for me. That sucks.

It was probably just the crappy McDonalds I was at. I'm going to try at another store later tonight.

I used mine for the first time tonight at the hospital of all places. :-) We were leaving an appointment and she was thirsty so wanted to stop at the machines by the cafe. She was looking thru her purse when I noticed the logo on the front of the coke machine. Swiped my phone, heard a beep and the phone prompted for its pin. Vending machine validated without a problem and her selection spit out of the machine and then prompted to make another selection or complete the transaction. She looked at me amazed and impressed, and a bit disappointed that her new Razr can't do that :-)

I got the apk; installed; and my $10 credit, and now I can not wait to use it! Woohoo!

Anyone see anything in the terms of service that could get someone in trouble if they use this on VZW? Thinking about trying it out, but I don't want any consequences for going against VZW's greedy "ban" of Wallet on the GNex.

I got to use it today at an American eagle buying Xmas gifts for my girl and the cute Asian chick cashing me out was like wwwwhhhhhhaaaattttt!!! Lol

I can't imagine that VZW will even know you are doing it. And if even if they put up a stink about it, just send a note to the major technology Blogs, and the negative publicity will shut them up in a heartbeat!

I would like to know if anyone tried this with the Incipio case available in the VZW corporate stores too (soft/hard version).

Finally, just trying to understand the process of paying...

You wake up the phone (and presumably unlock it if you have a PIN).
Tap the back of the phone against the terminal.
App pops open and prompts for you Wallet PIN.
You remove the phone from terminal and enter PIN? Or do you have to be holding it against the terminal while entering PIN?

Then - does the communication with Google and the payment services actually take place from the terminal? In other words - once the terminal receives the payment information from the NFC chip in the phone, there is no further communication needed between the phone and internet?

Thanks!

Heres the process for anyone wondering.

Step 1 -- Unlock the phone..face unlock, swipe unlock, pattern unlock....

Step 2 -- Touch the back of the phone to the paypass terminal

Step 3 -- Enter your Google Wallet PIN number

Step 4 -- Touch the back of the phone again to the paypass terminal

Thats it should be transaction complete at that point!

Tried mine for the first time....

Unlocked my screen and nothing happened. Does it need to put on the sensor for a certain amount of time (had a line behind me so i didnt hold it up there for more than 2 seconds)? Also, each time you open wallet does it say "initializing device?" Cause mine does each time I open the app..

You guys are saying to actually touch the phone on the reader....I been hovering it about an inch or so above. Hmm maybe this is why I been getting mixed results. Will try the touch method next time.
Thx

You can always enter your wallet pin before u swype it, itll time out in 5 min by default... this can be changed in settings
