Just played with a unit at Radio Shack

Just a quick Radio Shack related topic. As of Sat. night May 29th, Radio Shack has 67k+ units just on Pre-Order. This is NOT including Sprint or BestBuy stores. So I'm assuming there will be over 200k units solds the first weekend (Includ fri.)

Yea, I've tested the Pre's directly against the iphone and the droid... the pre has the fastest accelerometer, the Evo and the iphone are about the same from my minor tests.

Lol, here we go... I am 6' 3", 245LBS, 12% body fat. Work out 4 time a week. BUT... I cannot hold a phone (no matter what size or weight) up to my ear for 10 mins without my biceps getting sore. I have to keep switching hands. I use a bluetooth ear piece 99% of the time. If it wasn't for the bluetooth, my cell phone calls would be no more than 5 mins. I'll do the same with the EVO.

I can't hold a damn phone to the ear for 10 minutes. How you get to turn minutes?? LMAO, bicep be on FIRE!!

I use wiree headsets.

I just played with one at Radio Shack. I was worried about the keyboard being as cramped as the Hero. When I type on the Hero, it gets almost half of the characters I type wrong, but the spell correction fixes all the mistakes. With the EVO, it got 99% of the characters right and it still has the great spell check that the Hero has. I typed much faster on the EVO with one hand then on any Blackberry keyboard I have used with one hand. Anyone switching from a physical keyboard doesn't need to worry about the keyboard on this thing, the screen is big enough to give you plenty of space for each key, and the spell check will definitely correct any mistakes. I am pretty sure that I could type without looking since you only have to hit in the general area of each key. I can't wait for mine on Friday!!

Edit:
That was only using the portrait keyboard! The landscape keyboard is twice as good due to twice the width!

It has to be a software limitation. The accelerometer works with via a simple and common contraption in all devices.

BTW, the Pre's accelerometer is the best I've seen out there, so to compare anything to it isn't saying much. How does the EVO compare to, let's say, the iPhone in that respect?

I just talked to somebody at the Sprint store closest to where I live and they had an Evo in store, in pocket. But the rep was so hard up that he wouldn't let me take a glance at it or even give me his opinion on the phone and how well it works. He just kept fumbling for an answer to tell me that would drive me away. So then I grabbed him by his shirt and said you listen here!!! Lol JK. After a minute of clever mindtricks I still couldn't see it so I said thanks... I guess I can wait 68 hours till mine is in my hand :)

I went into the RS I pre-ordered at and they still don't have even a mock display yet. :-/

Good to hear. That eliminates one of the concerns I had about defecting from my Palm Pre. Now all I have to worry about is the lack of induction charging (hopefully the battery life will be better than the Palm Pre's) and getting accustomed to the OS.
