Just rooted - first impressions

Hi all! After reading this great thread over the past few days, I was inspired to take the leap. I bought a nook color a couple days ago and rooted it last night. This is my first experience with android and I quite like it so far. BUT, the device has randomly rebooted at least 3 or 4 times in the 12 hours since rooting. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there anyhing I can do about it? Thanks in advance!

On NookDevs site, they have an article on the issue and some workarounds. I'd check there.

Sent from my rooted NookColor using Tapatalk Pro.

what about updates?

So, I am looking at getting a NC and the Nooting instructions look pretty simple, dare I say. So, my question is, what happens when there is an update the NC, will it run well on a rooted device?

I just remember when the DINC froyo came out all the rooters had specific issues when it ran seemlessly on my stock device.

Thanks for any info. ;)

How does ADW Ex allow you to launch using the original Nook Color App? I have Launcher Pro on my Droid X and this appears the same--I don't see how it would allow you to access the original Nook interface once you root the phone into an Android device.

By the way once rooted is the original interface now an app or do we have to download the Android Nook App such as we'd install on our Android Phone?

I don't use a replacement launcher. after rooting my nook looks almost exactly the same. the only differences are softkeys present as a small, movable icon overlying whatever is on your screen and a few additions to the extras screen. everything else looks and functions the same unless you change something. rooting gives you the option of changing things.

That's great, you get the best of both worlds. So the softkey buttons for Android sort of overlay the original Nook Screen, and the Nook button does what it always did. I presume the addition apps show up in the Nook "extras"; but if you use the soft keys for the 4 Android buttons you can get to the Android Launcher as well.

Sounds like there really is no downside to rooting!

Thanks!

Man, I am so on this. Ordered mine today. Will probably use it as a comic book reader mostly...as well as an ebook reader for my classes. Can't wait!

Edit: Love it...Although did run into some issues. But figured them out and now have a pretty decent tablet. Thanks AC!!

btw...great comic book reader (see pic)

I'm having the same issue with my NC rebooting on its own. If there's an article or work around, can someone reply with a link?

thanks

Unfortunately I don't have a link, but if you look in the Nook Color forums here, you should see some great info from Will Shanklin regarding most issues with the NC and workarounds (including some tips on the random reboots).. Since following Will's tips, I've not had the random reboots.
