Why would the iPad need exclusivity against a phone?
Conspiracy theories ... *chuckles*
The T-Bolt is competing with the iPad 2 for advertisement space.
The impact and sales of the iPad 2 and the T-Bolt would be significantly lower if VZW has to split their marketing two ways, one for each new device, especially since it still seeks to advertise the iPhone 4 and Xoom.
Chances are this and next week are going to be devoted entirely to the iPad 2 to ensure people buy it from VZW over its competitors. After enough time has passed, VZW will do the same for its first 4G smartphone, something that will be advertising JUST AS HEAVILY as the iPhone and Xoom; there is no Apple bias whether you want to believe it or not.
While most of the iPhone 4 ad space has been cannibalized by the Xoom (how many laptops has that guy folded in half twice by now? 9,000 or so?), there is some left that can be reappointed to iPad 2 advertising. I also suspect a major chunk of the Xoom marketing will go towards iPad 2 marketing since the former has had around seven weeks of marketing already. When the T-Bolt comes out, it will naturally need to steal some...Thunder (hyuck hyuck hyuck)...from the iPad 2, so I don't see the launch occurring before the 24th just so the iPad 2 has enough time to shine.
I won't be surprised if it launches next week; in fact I will wet my pants. But I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed it either to ensure that each new device has a sufficiently and equally large marketing push behind it.
