Just want to share new GB leak

I think you'd just Odin the EH03 file.

Thanks. So there's no need to Oden that PIT file to repartition before flashing EH03 in Oden? I'm running a voodoo kernel. Do I need to go into cwm and disable voodoo before flashing EH03 in Oden?

Thanks again for your help.

The FULL EH03 ODIN will rewrite your file system, and install the stock kernel. If I were in your shoes, I would do it anyway just to be safe.

Definitely do it if you flash one of the .zip's i.e Superclean 3.0

This is what i did;

1. nandroid backup
2. Odin Full EH03 leak with Atlas ver. 2.2.pit
3. Start back to download mode and Odin CWM
4. Flash superclean 3
5. Clear cache/davlik

So far so good and zero FC. make sure to clear cache and davlik

Up and running! I followed this same procedure. Saw it on XDA. Only thing I didn't do was as you stated last, make sure to clear cache/davlik after flashing superclean in cwm. All kinds of crazy crap was happening. Fc's, apps wouldn't download from the market. A pop up would come up and say that I didn't have enough space on my device. Went back into recovery, cleared cache/davlik and repaired permissions. Upon reboot all was well with the world. Restored all my apps, contact, sms, etc and it's humming along nicely.

I can't believe how much snappier my Fascinate runs now! This is what I've been missing on froyo while you guys have been playing around with Gingerbread? I just hope my dropped calls are a thing of the past, and the need to plug in before the day is over.

This SC3 ROM looks like it will hold for the whole day but it all depends on what you do with your phone. I've been running for a straight 14 hours now and still have 50% left with minimal usage (facebook, email, text, calls and browsing)

But then again a lot of new roms at first will show good battery then will go down the more you use it.

Yes even the stock GB runs much better. Try the Superclean version or jump up to a CM7 version and it gets better.

I never ran the stock version for longer than it took to boot up so I could boot back into recovery and flash SC3. The thought of running unrooted and all Binged up makes me throw up in my mouth a little, lol!

hmmm.. i'm running SC 3 EH03 and everything works great except the gallery. I even installed the patch from XDA (alternate TW gallery) but same thing. Won't go into the gallery, just black screen and force close.

Is this a known problem or should I try re-flashing it?

Thanks

You can try reflashing after wiping cache and dalvick. I think there is a 3D version in the Market (not 100% sure) you might try also.

Just noticed this is happening to me as well when trying to launch the gallery in SC 3 EH03. I will wipe cache/dalvick and reflash SC3 and see if it helps. I'll be bummed if it doesn't as I have a lot of stuff in my gallery that I like to show people.

This happened to me when i first boot up the stock EH03 with SC3. It looks like the SD gets read last upon reboot and sometime take a little longer than normal. But after using the phone for a while and specially clearing the cache and davlik everything is working properly now even after reboot

I keep hearing things like the line of thought above. I "hate stock...puke" followed by "everything works great on this custom rom, BUT.... I have problems with x, y and z things."

I have tried a ton of custom roms and am a big fan of most of the developers. I really love the work they do. I love the themes and adjustability that custom ROMS/THEMES offer. The main reason I am even on this forum is because I wanted Froyo on my Fascinate. Samsung and Vzw wouldn't give it up, but by the hands of Adrynalyne and DXC and other great devs, I was able to get it early.. : ) Oh how the tides have changed since Eclair.

It's no longer necessary to dismiss the stock ROM's as quickly. The stock rom and kernel often offer a great stability that is often lacking in some custom ROMS. For instance, I flashed the fully bloated full release of EH03 after spending a week on CM7/Pool Party/MTD without functional wifi, much frustration and hours wasted trying to fix it. Upon entering EH03 land, wifi worked wonderfully.

I flashed a clockwork, three buttoned, and flashed the superuser.zip. Rooted in less than 2 minutes. With launcher pro I was able to remove the bloatware from my app drawer, (I could remove completely if I choose, but they don't hurt anything) so it's not an issue. As for the Bing issue, I just dropped a custom Google search box down on the homescreen, installed Dolphin browser and Bing is never seen again. Literally I never really bump into it. In return, I get a fully functional (at least 3 days into it), super smooth, and super stable phone. With root, I can edit things as I want.

I'm not saying stock roms are perfect, each handset is different. It took Sammy/Vzw three releases before Froyo was done right. All I'm saying is, we can stop living behind the "Bing" and "Bloat" arguments of the eclair days. If you keep getting partially functional custom roms, just ODIN yourself a full EH03, root it (keep a su.zip file on your sdcard and cwm.tar handy on the computer), install Launcher Pro, get rid of the bloat and give a try for a couple days. You may be surprised, especially when you can see your pics in the gallery properly, and force closes are very few and far between : )

Ok after reading through the XDA forums i found some quick fix for the gallery issue.

go to settings>sd card & phone storage>unmout sd card

open the back cover and remove your sd card then reinsert it again, let android read and sync your card and then open gallery see if that will work. It worked for me not as fast and smooth as in froyo but a quick fix

I also flashed a SD Speed fix found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010767 but this is your option

I have GeeWiz 1.1 (Froyo) running on my wife's Fascinate, and it is definitely very stable, little to no issues at all. She no longer has missed calls, her battery life is better, etc. She's happy. And I used both of the GeeWiz (Froyo and GB) ROMs on mine for a while...HOWEVER...I got bored very quickly with little to no customization beyond what Launcher Pro Plus offers. So I have been running TSM Resurrection for a few days now, and use a theme on top of it that was customized to work with Launcher Pro. And I LOVE my phone right now. The thought of going back to a stock ROM like GeeWiz or even the new Superclean, is not appealing to me at the moment. But I agree that as time moves on, the developers are building better and better stock ROMS with great stability, which I would think is very appealing to a lot of folks. I'm happy to live with the quirks of TSM Res for now, cause I love the look and feel of my Fascinate right now more than ever before.

Just a bit of clarification.

I havent messed with my phone in a while but want to make this jump. Coming from an old COMROM with ED04. I just ODIN the full file and then flash the deodexed rom? I know how the process works mostly just want to make sure it can make such a jump successfully.

That's pretty much it. Make sure everything is backed up! A small aside... some people are running in to issues with CWM3, so of you have an older 2.5.x build, I would recommend using that.

What kind of issues are people having with CWM3? I flashed the blue version that was linked to in the "how to" post in the original thread on XDA and so far I haven't noticed anything. Although, I do recall it taking a long time to repair permissions and I'm not really sure if it did at all. I still have the cwm-recovery-all on my pc, so that would be ok to use with this GB rom?

Also, the "how to" post on XDA has you flash the Atlas v2.2 pit file in Oden when flashing the full rom. Is that necessary if coming from CommRom to EH03? Thanks.

the cwm-recovery-all is the most stable and compatible one which is being suggested to a lot of user in the XDA forums.

Atlas v2.2 pit is advisable when you ODIN a new ROM/Kernel/Modem but not necessary. It only repartition your SD card properly

it repartitions your internal memory properly, not your external SDcard.. just to clarify.. :D
