Keep asking for PIN to unlock phone, then nothing happens

[Android Central Question]

I left my phone charging and when I came back to check, I wanted to unlock my phone, I placed my assigned finger to unlock via biometrics, then I was asked to enter my PIN for additional security which happens sometimes. But this time after entering my PIN my phone did not unlock instead it kept asking me to enter my PIN and it was an endless cycle. Please help and many thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! Have you already tried force a shutdown (by pressing and holding Power for about 20 seconds (or, if it's a Samsung device, Power and Vol Down for about 20 seconds), then powering up again?
