Just got the nexus 7. I want to use it as a bedside clock. I've tried a few apps but they do not stay on. Any suggestions?

Have you tried loading the clock app? If you click on the screen it dims so I assume it will stay on. Though I admit I haven't tried it.

I don't know of any clock apps but I've used apps with the option of not turning screen off while app is displayed. So there might be one out there somewhere

I have tried it and it woks just fine. You can even dim it with a couple of taps.

Why not just use the stock clock app? It works perfectly and stays on.

OP have you tried the stock clock app yet? These guys are right it does work for exactly what you need it sounds like. One click dims the screen all the way and it will work in portrait or landscape....no real reason to download or pay for any additional apps, google nailed it with the jb clock.

thanks for all of the replies but I figured it out.
I have a kindle fire. It will not run all not without power. The app i called night clock. I make the screen very dim before running the app. The display stays on and since its dark it doesn't need to be very bright. The first time I tried it I had more than half a battery life in the morning. The second night I forgot to reduce the brightness and it didn;'t have enough juice to run all night..
