Keep track of 3G data outages here for Virgin Mobile

Down in Cheshire and Bethel Connecticut. Both phones.

I wasn't getting 3g coverage late this morning in the downtown and financial district sections of Boston.
 
I have had 3g in and out ( mainly out) for the last week or so, I don't even have 1x showing up, just bars. I'm in Mobile, AL.

Is there an outage in FL for 8-21-2011? I seem to have lost all 3G connectivity since last night - no icon on my LG Optimus V. How can one tell if there's an outage vs. a phone issue?
 
Was out in Chattanooga Friday afternoon, Saturday afternoon, and all Sunday morning................................... and when I try to call them the system (yes.. the system...) effing hangs up on me.
 
I've had no connectivity to 3g since at least 5:30 am est in eastern kentucky. My first major outage. Tech support is a major headache. They reset my 3g, my account, the whole nine and nothing works. I either see "connecting" or "disconnected" on quick stats mobile data. I did get the icon to show up for a hour or so earlier today after doing several button cycles but no data flowed. Then after a reboot it disappeared again. Is this an issue that will clear itself up. My phone was fine last night now gps is wonky [but sorta works] and 3g won't connect at all. Anything I Can do?
 
I don't know if my problem is an outage issue, but I'm in Sandpoint, Idaho, and I have had no signal at all...x in signal bars...can't text/call...since yesterday. got it to come back today doing the *#*#etc trick found on forum...but my "time without signal" is still saying 100% even though i now can text/call. i'm new to this phone and smartphones and this forum...this is really confusing and irritating...the phone, i mean...not the forum!!! LOL you guys are great!

So, I just read that VM said there were outages in the last couple days from the east coast hurricane. I live in idaho...is it possible that an outage in the east would trickle thru the network and affect phones over here? i don't understand how cell reception/towers work, so might be a dumb question....

No signal for calls/texts, no 3G and no 1x in SE Virginia since 8/27/11. Customer support no help.. So frustrating! :mad:
 
i'm on 1x in south Louisiana. 3g pops up occasionally, but only for a few seconds. Hope they get this fixed soon, its been like this for three days now. The first day I didn't even have cell signal.

No text or web. VM support was no help at all. They did not even admit there was an outage until my seventh call to them today.

I am wondering if I made a big mistake switching to VM.

i don't believe it was a mistake for you to make the switch. i dont know if you noticed or not, but many others on the eastern coast have also been without proper 3G coverage and reception. it's more than likely because of the hurricane. if i was you, i would wait it out until your current billing month is almost up and switch towards the end if it still hasn't been fixed.


my 3G was out 4pm EST to around 8am EST the next day, from 9/2 - 9/3. area code is 49286, in michigan. what's weird about this is that it started while i was at work, in ann arbor. ann arbor was supposedly the 2nd city in michigan to get 4G from sprint and they started rolling that out back in july. also weird was that i was the only one there that was without 3G, everyone else on sprint had normal 3G coverage & reception. thinking about doing some PRL hacks and seeing how that goes because lately my 3G has been going out much more often.

Just wanted to come back with a follow up.

As I said before I got my phone last Friday and singed up with VM service. Now 5 days later and numerous calls to VM CS and the data was still not working. Just calls and text only. I took the advice of some others on the forum and finally got a supervisor and asked that they reset my plan. They said they could not do it but told me someone from corporate would call me within an hour. I did not believe that would happen.

But low and behold I got a call from corporate in less than 30 minutes. She said "stay on the line while I reset your plan". She came back on in two minutes and said it's done now I need you to press "Activate" on your phone. I did that and when my phone powered back up everything was WORKING!!!
I asked her to explain exactly what she did. She said "I canceled your plan and then set you up with a new plan again. Your new payment due date is now a month from today 10-6-11 and you have your full monthly minutes starting fresh".

She further explained that when I initially signed up something did not get set correctly and that is why my data was not working. By her setting up my plan new it got everything set correctly and data and web started working immediately.

So to sum it up. If you have the same experience please don't give up. Keep calling and then ask for a supervisor. CS always says "wait for fours hours and it should start working" or "wait for 24 to 48 hours and someone will call you". This does not work!. Tell the supervisor you want it escalated to corporate, then ask corporate to "reset your plan". This is the key. Over five days they had reset my data and reset my phone all to no avail. But once they actually canceled my plan and then restarted my plan then everything started working immediately.

I hope this information helps others.
