Keeping my V20, don't think I'm upgrading this year

V30 front camera looked worse than the V20. The V20 had a wider angle front camera and better color reproduction. The V30 rear camera did look better, but nothing crazy good (like the iPhones or Pixel 2). Saw a screen burn-in on the display model of the V30... exactly what I was afraid of. The V30 is more expensive and removed a few features from last year, offering a few small upgrades. Also, I don't think I'd want to deal with curved screens and screen protectors again, such a hassle. The G6 does indeed look nice with the flat screen but the front camera looked terrible (at least indoors when I tried it). The V20 has aged very well actually, absolutely no signs of slowing down or software mishaps. Camera might not be the best in the world but it still looks very good. Gonna hold off for now until the G7 and see what's new with LG or maybe take a look at the Mate 10 Pro or OnePlus 5.

How is your V20 doing so far? Any issues? Or what phone did you upgrade to?

Mine is still awesome to me.

I can't see spending so much money on on something that I don't really like anymore.

I'm looking at much cheaper solutions for my next purchase...

I was thinking of "upgrading" to the V30+. But as each day passes I can't seem to justify an $830 lateral move, IMO.

I've had my V20 since launch and I'm still loving this device. I have some screen retention from time to time but it goes away. If that's the worse that my V20 is going to get, then I doubt I'll upgrade.

I like the V30+ and how it looks, it is a nice looking device, but I'm not blown away as to make such a "upgrade"

Sticking with my V20. I've had mine since launch day and its still going strong. Started to lose some battery life so bought a new battery and as good as new. Try that with the new generation of phones. Wish LG would make a line of phones with the removable battery and the 2nd screen.

Too bad they got pressured into making sealed glass back phones. I'm cycling through 5 batteries so I have 5x the longevity compared to everyone else. I noticed the older and used battery doesn't hold a charge as much.

Instead of focusing on the appearance and spending money on that, they should focus on hardware and software experience. Reason why I felt the V30 was lacking a bit, too much time went into the design. They really need to add the dual pixel technology next year or they're behind in the game.

Same here. The V20 is good enough, still performs flawlessly. I'll wait and see what the G7 and V20 has to offer, don't mind going with a cheaper option too. ZTE, Huawei, Xiaomi, OnePlus are pretty good.

I'm just tired of the whole shebang of loosing features like the removable battery and a glass back and (IMHO) stupid curved screens.

It's not that I am asking for much in just for LG to reintroduce the v10 body with upgraded internals... Heck they can go 1 step further and utilize the entire screen real-estate and keep it 16x9 and bump up to 120 refresh rate like the razer phone and have the best LCD screen available. Add in their camera, top of the line audio, fm radio enabled chipset with a removable battery and I would even go back to Verizon to get it...

I noticed this too. I have 3 batteries. The most oldest one can't last more than a few hours with some apps running. I will keep it as a spare to the spare. I'm going to order 2 more for XMAS.

Still using mine just fine with no plans to downgrade to the V30. Screen retention is my only issue, which is small potatoes compared to the common problems of other phones.

I don’t know if we’re going to see another flagship with removable battery option. Even mid tier devices don’t have removable battery options. They want us to upgrade smartphone every year!

It's true. Profits are all that's important to them, not the consumer. Phones CAN last for many, many years but manufactures design them to die sooner. I have old electronics that still functions perfectly well, there are old tube TVs and PCs still running. Manufactures are smart, a consumer will know when a phone is "good enough" and we've reached that stage. Phones nowadays are designed to last 1-2 years tops. The market needs to change. We can see LG pushing hard to keep the removable batteries but they were pressured (LG G5 & V20 for example). They are pushing hard to keep the headphone jack too, let's hope they don't give in.

My batteries (I've got 2) are not keeping charge as long as they used to. Do you get them on Amazon?

I bought mine from eBay from reputable US resellers, liquidators actually. They were real batteries because they look and feel like the original. There's actually a lot of clone batteries going around, you can tell they're clones by comparing your original battery, they also don't fit perfectly, actually they fit very tight and snug.

Always ask them via eBay message. If they turn out to be fake, you can tell them and they will have to refund you.

Same here. I always end up selling my phone and getting half or less than half back and use that money to upgrade. Usually I upgrade because of battery problems, I would've kept my Galaxy S6 (still an awesome phone) if the battery didn't die so soon. I honestly think the battery died from wireless charging generating too much heat. Since the battery was not removable, the best option was to sell it. I wanted the V10 and G4 but the V20 was the real keeper.

I just got a pixel 2 during Verizon's black Friday promo.

As much as I like the V20, I just can't get over the fact that there are no official updates/security patches for the US996 model. I mean there are two major security issues with blue borne and the wifi krack. For me to nullify my warranty and download the us cellular updates is just absurd.

Image retention, battery life woes and OS sluggishness from the phone will not be missed. I will, however, miss the DAC and manual controls for the camera, but I will trade those in for pixel 2's better cameras, security updates, OS updates, clean Android, and other features.

I'll be putting my V20 up for sale.
