Keeping unlimited on Verizon help

Submitted the order yesterday, but never got the confirmation and when I check the orders on BB site there is no orders. Very strange.

If you get a call or email from someone at BB saying there has been a problem remember to cancel your order. Moving forward at that point in the rare case that you do get such a notice will definitely cause you to lose your current plan.

I made an order around 10pm yesterday, but for some reason I got confirmation early this morning around 9 am. Just now got email that the order was shipped.

Got the phone today. I only got the phone but no SIM card. I know that I do not need the new SIM card, but was wondering why I did not get one. I have not powered on the phone yet. Not sure if I install my SIM card and turn it on it will override my unlimited data?

How should I proceed?

Check the Verizon website and confirm 2 facts:

A) your contract has been extended 2 years

B) you still have unlimited data

If you have both then insert old SIM, power on new device, attempt to call any phone number. If the call completes then you are all done.

If you cannot confirm either acct fact, or you cannot complete a call on your new device then get back to me.

Good luck

Was able to make a call. Check the account it changed to Note 4. Lets hope it will stay this way.

Thanks for your help.

Now with all this said how can we get the note 5 at a discounted price and still keep unlimited as they have made that close to impossible.

Very informative info Shortwave, I haven't attempted this yet but thank you in advance and hopefully this works with the Note 5.

I don't 5hink there is any way to get the Note5 yet.
This plan to keep UDP requires the new device to be available for shipping and works at whatever price BestBuy.com is showing.

If you discover a way to pay less let us all know.

Good luck

Hi,

I have a Blackberry phone that is 3G, not 4G and was wondering if this procedure will still work. Can I put my old card into the new phone and get 4G, or would it still be 3G or not work at all?

Sorry a 3G SIM would not work for this method.

I was in a similar spot as my iPhone4 used no SIM.

I borrowed from a relative their orphaned old 4G phone. Went to a VZW store and requested they help me swap phones. I used the old 4G phone for about a week. Then when Best.Buy.com had a new device at a good price I ordered it and had it delivered to my home.

Some people have also bought old 4G phones on Swappa.com or ebay.

OK, Thanks! I'll keep that idea in mind.

OK FYI- Verizon is ending UDP plans and subsidized phone purchases on Aug 13th!!

Though there is conflicting info it may continue http://www.droid-life.com/2015/08/10/new-details-on-verizons-new-one-plan-four-sizes-keeping-current-plans-upgrades-and-other-data-options/

If you want to use this method you need to place your order ASAP

There is a similar more extensive thread on this topic (upgrade and keep UDP) here if you need help http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon/227608-instruction-how-keep-unlimited-data-verizon-405.html

WHAT!
I've heard about the subsidies but not about them getting rid of UDP's.. I have to look in to this hope this ain't true.

I already have udp. I find it hard to believe they would take it away. I wouldn't be surprised if they refused to transfer it to a new phone though.

They eliminated UDP years ago. People on UDP that were grandfathered can still keep that plan....they just have to pay full price for a new phone and cannot use a payment plan.

Is the Sim card of the Note 3 the same size as that in the Note 5?
If not, how do you cut the card to make it fit?

The Note 5 uses the smaller nano-SIM.
The Note 3 uses the larger micro-SIM

SIM cutters and adapters are very inexpensive (approx $4 each) and available on sites like Amazon or other online retailers of cellphone accessories

That doesn't answer how you cut the larger card down to fit without destroying important data on it. Is it that obvious when you have the two cards side by side?

BTW, I was at Best Buy today. The Samsung rep said the Note 3, 4, 5 Sim cards were all the same size. I guess he was wrong.
