keeps asking me to choose default launcher

My s6 keeps periodically prompting me to choose a default launcher. Phone worked fine yesterday and now today all of a sudden it can't remember what launcher I set as a preference. Periodically when I press the home button I am asked to choose between the normal touchwhiz launcher and the touchwhiz easy launcher. It is pretty annoying. I have no 3rd party launchersupplies installed I just don't understand.

Welcome to Android Central! After selecting TouchWiz Home, I assume you tap Always, right? When you get the typical informational message on how to clear defaults, do you actually clear defaults? Sometimes people mistakenly think the message is telling them to clear defaults, whereas it's only for future reference.

If seems to happen after going into setting app regardless if I change anything or not

Found the culprit it was this alarm tone app that I downloaded from of all places the galaxy app store

Hey man, how did you figure this out? i have the same issue but don't have any alarm tone app downloaded or anything

Dw! I found it! When i went into settings -> applications -> default applications -> home , there were 3 options "Touchwiz easy Home" and "Touchwiz Home" and the third option was of an app that i had downloaded, so i went out and deleted this app, came back in to setting and set the default as "Touchwiz home" and it was solved! So if anyone else has this problem here you go!

Thanks for that. For me, it seemed to be an app called 'connect for hotmail'. So far, fingers crossed, the problem hasn't reocurred.

Thank you! I've been having this problem for months and nothing i tried has work. I didn't realize the hotmail app was acting as a launcher. Thanks for the catch! I hope this works. So far so good.

thank you for this! i've been having this exact problem, and i tried your remedy. it seems to have worked, altho does not offer me any app choices to delete. my choices were "touchwiz", "touchwiz easy", and "settings." i chose "touchwiz" and so far have not had anything pop back up. have i said thank you yet? THANK YOU!

THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH. This problem has been doing my head in since I bought the new S7 on it's launch day. Turns out it was a bet365 app. No more tantrums for me now

This problem came up for me a few days ago when I downloaded Nova Launcher and has come up periodically ever since...thanks so much for the tip. Hopefully it'll be gone for good now!

I went shead and followed all the steps. I didn't have a third option/app, so now what?

Pretty sure you already fixed your problem, but what I did for this problem was I went into Touchwiz & Touchwiz Easy apps and forced stopped/disabled them both. When you are doing that make sure you turn the Notifications OFF on both of those!
I then went into my favorite launcher app (CM Launcher) and set it as default (if it won't let you do that, no worries) because either way, well at least for me this was true, the next time you hit the home key it will ask you to once again to select your default launcher... Pick ALWAYS...
Now it should NOT keep asking you from that point forward (yet some things you open for the first time after that, such as email) may ask you one more time... But hopefully it should solve the problem for future use!! Hope this helps.

On a similar vein. I like Nova but find Microsoft Launcher Tempting. I want to trial it but the constant NAG SCREEN is driving me crazy.

It is so maddening I refuse/cannot trial it for long and go back to Nova. Nova is my prime launcher till I am confortable with MS Launcher & it would be idiocy to give in to a MS spambot. Or I have missed something obvious, it wouldn't be the first time
Does anyone know of a setting I have missed, I am sure most people in this post have seen this issue.
