Kenwood ddx5015dab and Samsung MHL HDMI link problems

Hi all, I'm new to this place so please bear with me if this has been covered before but I'm really struggling.

Just treated myself to a kenwood head unit which had mirrorlink feature via mhl but it's not responding to my galaxy s5? I've tried everything and an sure I have the correct leads etc. It's working with my dad's note 4 but not my s5, nexus 7 or wife's s4 any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Looking at all the information online it should work with the S5 (Not S5 mini correct) and the S4. When you plug them in to the head unit does anything happen at all?
