Kept unlimited data and got a gn3

Yeah this chick I know still has GranF data plan. So Fing jellybean. What really ticks me off is she doesn't do anything with it. Man I would hotspot and tether till my quad cores fried. Overclock and dataleach like a junkie on crack.

It would be nice to Verizon to allow these orders to stand and suck up their "glitch". United airlines gave away free plan tickets because of a glitch. Verizon isn't losing any money here but they are locking the customer in for 2 more years. With wireless data being capped and broadband data being capped soon. Most of us will be paying hundreds of dollars just for internet.

I'm on AT&T here, doing a 2-year upgrade and I'm still able to keep my grandfathered unlimited data plan.

AT&T and Verizon are different companies everyone. Verizon normally tries to force people off unlimited when upgrading.. AT&T doesn't.

Yea it just mean one company is less evil than the other. But also AT&T values their loyal customers. Verizon can care less about their customers. Its all about how much money they can squeeze out of them.

Only reason VZW can get away with it is because they do have the largest network.

Pretty much.

A guy on another forum says that Verizon canceled his order after fixing the glitz on the website. Has this happened to any one here?

My order is still pending to be shipped. I have an iPhone 5s gold and the GN3 in the order.

The customer support representative I spoke with yesterday said she would call me back today once they have an official announcement from Corporate. All we can do is cross our fingers and hope they will honor it and show they are not that big of a money grubbing company everyone has them out to be.

Hope it goes through for you. I personally won't be surprised if they back tracked... But part of me also believes they should honor it since the glitch was not at fault of the customer.. It was their fault.

Response from Verizon. Looks like I will be canceling my order. Funny thing is the glitch is back and some people on other forums are able to order unlimited again.

Yeah losing unlimited definitely isn't worth a few hundred off a phone if you actually use that data.

Isn't that just another rep posting that tweet? How reliable is it?

I don't think so. That's verizons main support twitter I believe.

Standard company line. If you ordered with the plan allowing you to keep unlimited, they would either cancel your order, or worse case make you return the phone to reinstate unlimited. They can't switch you to tiered without you knowing about it.

If they do switch it I assume that would be a materialistic change and get out of contract with no ETF and also a brand new phone to use on another carrier. Win/win?

Pretty much. If they switched you to tiered after selling you unlimited and didn't tell you (like dpham said)... That would be a bait and switch which is illegal.

If VZW waives the ETF then I get to keep the phones pop in a sim from lets say Straight talk and I am on my merry way.

Are you sure about that? Doesn't seem like they would give you a free phone. But idk. It sounds odd that they would waive a $350 fee, let you out of contract, and give you a $500-$600 phone.

Let's assume you're right. Verizon has a legal team deeper than all of the Major League Baseball's infield. Compared to the resources of the typical forum reader...you think someone like you, me, and the most die-hard forum reader is going to come out ahead in a lawsuit with Verizon? Suing over a service that isn't even owned by a customer? Yeah...

I'm not going to sue Verizon for a service I don't own (though I'll join a class-action...why not?!) I'd rather just avoid the headache altogether and just use the "legal" loophole of the alternate upgrade, which I have heard is doable by not one, but TWO Verizon reps. Believe me, if I thought this thing was doable, I'd have been one of the many doing the upgrade on my line, but I figured a rumor, a glitch or whatever was not worth the risk.

Upgrading a dummy line for $240 plus the cost of a hot phone like the Note 3? That's an acceptable risk!
