Keyboard and fullscreen videos keep closing

[Android Central Question]

Whenever watching fullscreen videos. The screen will minimize randomly. Even when not even holding phone. Doesn't matter what app you use YouTube, Netflix, chrome all do the same.
Keyboard also randomly closes while typing.

This is happening to me too and it's extremely frustrating. It also happens in snapchat when I'm recording a video. Wishing I hadn't bought this phone.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Are you certain you're not accidentally tapping the Back or Home button? Do you have a screen protector on? If so, those can sometimes lead to phantom touches -- try taking it off.

Hey B. Diddy, thanks for answering. I'm certain I'm not tapping anything, it happens even if I put my phone on a table and don't touch it. I also don't have a case or a screen protector on it.

Which phone do you have? Does it have capacitative hardware navigation buttons, or are the nav buttons onscreen only?

I have the Pixel 2, it only has onscreen nav buttons. I also have all gestures/active edge turned off.

Does it also happen in Safe Mode? https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/2852139?hl=en (You'll only be able to test preinstalled apps like YouTube.)

Since up grade phone does not keep videos open. It closes them after a few seconds.

Even I am facing the same issue on pixel 2 xl. Video on any app gets minimised and gets closed automatically every few minutes. It's very irritating.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you have a screen protector on? If so, try taking it off. Poorly fitting screen protectors can sometimes lead to phantom touches/swipes.

In my opinion, what's happening it's a restart of a system service. However, I am not an expert. Whenever I watch a movie on netflix, youtube or I drive with google maps in full screen, every 5 minutes or so, the app which is in full screen minimizes in the right bottom corner, as like I was pressing the home button, which I definetly don't. The screen also flickers when this happens, like a milisecond, you can barely notice it. It happens while typing a text message, the text input gets deleted and the keyboard app restarted (I believe). I haven't tried any other keyboards. I use Samsung keyboard, but I think that's irrelevant as it doesn't seem to be only the keyboard. As I said in my previous post, I used Youtube in Safe Mode and the problem persists. It minimeses by itself every few minutes.

I removed my screen protector. Nothing has changed. The problem persists.
