I seem to remember this being an issue on my S5 or my note 7's. I start typing and the keyboard starts adding spaces and I would guess thinking it knows what I am typing puts letters in there as well. So "the" may turn into "t hye o". I remember it not getting better. In the past I probably tried cache clearing and such. I also remember switching keyboards and maybe it getting better but not 100%. Full disclosure I have an s9 plus on verizon in black, 64g. I also have a screen protector, glass I believe, but this was happening before I put it on and I dont see it lasting very long. None of them do, I just cant stomach getting scratches within the first few weeks.

I know I got rid of the S5 for issues, maybe battery and others. Keyboard could be one. We all know why I lost the note 7's. I am willing to spin the wheel again if needed. Cache, Calibrate, Switch apps or whatever. I would not be feeling well about this phone if returning it is whats needed. I was willing to give them a pass for the Note7.

Thanks in advance. Jeremy

I am having the same problem. I have never had a smartphone that wasn't a BlackBerry and I am spoiled by my perfect BB keyboards. This one types all kinds of crazy stuff and duplicates words. And I can't delete by swiping fingers across the keyboard like on my BB. Not impressed with typing so far.

I haven't had a BB in many years. I did enjoy my Palm Pre. I still like seeing its features from 2009 being adopted as " the latest" Apple X just adopted wireless charging and gestures. a card system..... well my palm had all that and more 9 years ago. Even as small as those buttons on the pre were it was better typing.

Having said all that, I try and type as little as possible and with this phone I am more then happy. I enjoyed the note7 too, until it was ripped from my hands. If this is the only issue and I can adjust in some way I am good with that. I can't think its just me, for something that happened so many years ago and now. I have to think more people between then and now have had this issue.

I was having the same problem and thought it was my screen protector. But my husband was complaining about the same problem and he doesn't have a screen protector on his S9+. So I just switched to Google's GBoard, which I also used on my S8+ and now everything is working fine.

I'm not sure what it going on with the S9+ keyboard because it seemed to work well when I first started using it.

I just noticed something. It may have some bearing on this issue. I had a Ringke Wave case on my S9+ since yesterday. And I had a Luvitt glass screen protector. I'd also tested an i-Blason with a built in stiff but thin plastic screen protector as well as a Samsung LED wallet case with no screen protector.

One thing I had noticed when I first got my S9+ and used it without a case or screen protector for a couple of days was that interacting with the display was as smooth and fluid as interacting with my Pixel 2. Putting on the i-Blason case was the first time that fluidity got messed up. I had to press down hard to get touches to register. Finally I turned on the setting to increase touch sensitivity and messed around with the setting to reduce response to accidental touches of the edge display. Ultimately I turned that setting OFF. And I got back functionality but typing in that case was not fluid.

Yesterday and today I was using the Ringke Wave case and a Luvitt screen protector. Even after installing GBoard and having the keyboard work normally again there still was a bit of a stutter and odd lack of fluidity in interacting with the display in general. I took off the case but left the screen protector ON. The fluidity is restored.

I am now using a Ringke CLEAR case with the Luvitt screen protector and it's about the same as not using any case at all. I noticed this case has edges that do not curl over the edges of the phone the way the edges on the Ringke wave case did.

TL/DR Summary: So I think when using rugged cases in combination with display protectors (or possibly even without a screen protector) be aware any user interface oddities you may notice might be due to your case edges not playing nice with the phone edges and/or the edges of the screen protector.

Right now Amazon is full of bad reviews on screen protectors and my observations indicate it may not be the screen protectors at fault.

Are you referring the BlackBerry hardware or software keyboards? If you long for the BlackBerry virtual keyboard there are ways to get that in your galaxy.

I'm referring to the onscreen BB keyboard. How can I get it? I tried going into Playstore under my list of apps from my previous BB Priv but it said the keyboard was not compatible.

I have an s9+ and this keyboard typing putting in whatever the hell it wants when typing is really pissing me off. Its bad enough i suck at typing to begin with and this crap certainly does not he help. I can see when you type and you may get letters that are pretty close to each other but when you type and get other letters, spaces and symbols and that are only shift options this sucks...

Thanks for the reply! That's exactly what I did and I am back to loving my BB keyboard again.

i did the same exact thing. this was the first app i put on my s7 when i got it and it was one of the first to be put on my s9 after i swapped everything over. just make sure you leave the blackberry manager installed so you can update whatever apps you install from it, they don't update on their own
