Keyboard Not Working After Update

Updated my phone last night and now my phone keyboard has stopped working. Tapping on any field that requires text input does not bring the keyboard up. I've tried it in the messaging app, browser, settings, etc. so I know it is not a problem with a specific app I am using. I use the Samsung keyboard.

I have tried clearing the data in the keyboard app, trying GBoard instead, and restarting my phone. I am really trying to avoid factory resetting my phone. The phone is basically useless without text input.
Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions for fixing it?

I have the same issue. I typically use SwiftKey keyboard and also tried GBoard as well as Samsung Keyboard. I was on the beta and reported to Samsung. Resetting the device was a temporary fix for me.

Yes it does. Sometimes when the keyboard refuses to appear, I can turn the phone to landscape then back to portrait and it will appear again.

Sounds like a bug , this happens with gboard or swiftkey also?

Does it appear if you tap the text entry field?

Yes, happens with Samsung and third party keyboards.

Does not. I have to try to revive it by changing back and forth between landscape and portrait. When that doesn't work I reboot. Happens once every few days.

You tried safe mide ? If it still happening there then factory reset.

Nuking will be a last resort. Such a pain to reload everything, especially all my app logins, etc. . On the beta, other users had the same issue. For me it occurs once every few days. It's impractical for me to run in safe mode for a few days to verify one way or another. I'm going to give Samsung a couple patch cycles to see if they get it sorted.

I hear you , yeah definitely see next update which you should be seeing soon for a lag issue.
