Keyboard Typing Problem?

My phone has a problem where if I try to type in :

"Hahahahahaha" what tends to happen is that it'll come out "Haaahahhhaahaaa" where one of the keys (touches) will randomnly not register when typing quickly.

Is this a phone problem or a limitation with the EVO in general.
If I type fast it will never seem to follow. If it was a phone problem I guess I need to exchange. Does the 30fps limitation have to do with this? Or possibly the grounding issue?

Phone: Rooted on DC v3.2. 002 Novatec.
**This has been like this since my phone was stock.
Would the latest OTA fix the keyboard speed problem?

Thanks in advance.

As I understand it this is a limitation of the stock keyboard. Multitouch keyboards allow this. I do not know where one can get such a keyboard though.

I haven't had this issue. When I type fast it seems to keep up maybe I'm not typing fast enough. I haven had a device keep up with my typing since I had the iPhone 3GS. I did notice though that the Droid X allows you to hit the shift key and then type a letter. The EVO doesn't do this.

Google this board for the droidX keyboard APK. It uses multi-touch and in my opinion it's a better k/b than the default one.

The thing is my friends has a 003 albeit with the new ota stock that's not rooted but his keyboard types fine without issues....

I've had this exact same issue. I even downloaded a new keyboard that was supposed to "fix" the issue (Smart Keyboard Pro), but it persists. My main issue is with the space key. Whenever I type quickly (the speedy I could easily do on my hard-keyed Treos), it will sometimes miss the space key (that seems to be most often missed key, although sometimes it is others).

By the way, Smart Keyboard did NOT fix the problem but I DID like it better than stock (just little tweaks). I have recently been trying the SWYPE KB (finally bowed to the hype) that I found the .apk for (since the beta is gone). I don't find Swype to be any faster, but is it more "fun" to use. I could definitely see it being faster once I get used to it. I just have too much fun watching it make the words as I "type". maybe once the novelty wears off, I'll get faster...I don't know.

From what I understand (from my previous "find a better keyboard" research) is that it IS a "multi-touch" issue that a MT keyboard should fix (I'm going to see if I can hunt down that droidx kb now as a test). Anyway, try Swype. It might not be "faster", but it is a ton more fun.

K--

<edit: I have a "launch day" EVO, vers 002, non-ROOTed>

In the end the question is..

Is this a phone issue or something that can be fixed with software.. ?
If its a phone issue we need to get it replaced..

It is a bit annoying.

where did you find the swype .apk? Iv'e been looking for that. I have beta and like it but it may expire soon. Without it, I would have seen how far I could throw this thing couple weeks ago.

Yeah look above me. That post says it all.

The Droid X keyboard is multitouch and should suit your needs.
Basically, it allows you to type quickly without one tap intruding another.

but why is it that the 003 has no lag probs.. whereas the 002 does..
is this a phone defect u think?

just an fyi.. i updated to the new baked snack rom and they have something in the rom where they enable the multitouch to work properly on the htc keyboard. try it out.

please do not post links to the swype apk. it is considered warez since swype doesn't aprove of it being passed around.

I haven't noticed any issue with typing on my EVO. Picked it up 2 weeks ago, hardware v003. Truth be told, I'm actually typing faster on the EVO's virtual keyboard than I was ever able to on my Pre's hardware keyboard.

Edit: @scribe4food; Google is your friend ;) Swype Beta Signup
