That's weird.. don't know how I'm missing this.. I hold down on the gear icon, it vibrates and goes to settings

Do you have the Developer Options enabled? If so, make sure the three animations scales are not off.

I had a similar problem because of my fat thumb, but I pushed to one side so I could see it spin.

that was it.. the first thing I always do is turn off the animation scale.. thanks for everyones help

Can someone tell me where you change the current keyboard? When I go into Languages & Input it doesn't show Current Keyboard. The only way I can see to change the current keyboard is to go into Virtual Keyboard, Manage Keyboards, and uncheck the keyboards you don't want to use.

Try SwiftKey. It's simply the best third party keyboard out there and it also has a setting for a numbers row.

+1 for SwiftKey. I prefer their Neural keyboard. Scary good with predictions.

I have not installed it yet, because I want to give the Google keyboard a shot. Probably won't last long, I miss the number row and the predictions already.

I switched to SwiftKey immediately. To make it my default keyboard, I clicked on the app and followed the instructions.

Glad it helped! Once the UI Tuner is enabled you can turn the animations off again, if you want. Being off doesn't trigger the spinning cog for the tuner.

I figured it out. If you have the keyboard open you just need to press the keyboard button in the lower right-hand corner and you can select a different keyboard.

You can use a 3rd party keyboard...but googles is the best.

Its under preferences in the keyboard settings, then custom input styles, then hit the + button in the upper right..
