I was currently using the iPhone 5s before the N5 but have used the N4 and GS4 so I'm not totally new to android. I absolutely hated typing in iOS and would be constantly fixing mistakes. I assumed the move to android would help me out but I'm having all sorts of trouble with the stock keyboard. I'll be typing and look up and its all gibberish. I make way more mistakes than with my iPhone even.

Can anyone comment or give tips for the stock keyboard in KitKat or recommend another keyboard that will play nice with KitKat and help my typing accuracy?

My advice is to install Swiftkey. It is way better. I have not been a fan of the native Android keyboards for a while now.

That being said, I am surprised you had problems on iOS...the iOS keyboard is one of the few things I liked about iOS.

Thanks both for the quick replies. I'll try swiftkey and report back. The problem could very well be me. My problems in iOS were not as bad as what I'm experiencing with the stock kitkat keyboard. I just had alot of funny conversations due to autocorrect. And when i didnt auto correct it was often gibberish.

I have auto-correct turned off. I just use normal text prediction. I spent more time fixing wrong auto-corrects than it saved me.

All keyboards take a little time to get used to, especially when coming from the crappy IOS one. Give stock a little more time for the adjustment and if you still don't like it Swiftkey is probably your best option.
