For those who have had both phones, how do the two compare in daily life and usage?

Thanks!

KeyOne's battery life is superior to the Priv's. The KeyOne is also much faster. I had the Priv for over a year and I have the KeyOne since July.

This is really useful.

How would you say the cameras compare? Neither is a top notch phone, of course, but given that reality is one significantly better than the other?

The KEYone has a much better camera. It has the same sensor as the 2016 Google Pixel.

Hey Kayza 😃

So here is a quick break down between the 2 devices. I've put the phone next to the category it wins.

Screen: Priv
Battery: KEYᵒⁿᵉ
Camera: KEYᵒⁿᵉ (but Priv has OIS which is nice)
Keyboard: KEYᵒⁿᵉ
Charging: KEYᵒⁿᵉ (USB-C)
Storage: TIE
RAM: TIE
Speakers. Priv (front facing)

Overall, the KEYᵒⁿᵉ is definitely a winner. It's got a newer OS, better performance and is built better. 😃

If only the camera software was as good. The camera on my Nexus 5X is much better, especially in HDR mode. I'm not convinced HDR works at all on my KEYone.

KEYone is faster and less buggy and the battery life is far better. The only thing you lose going to a KEYone from a Priv is the slider form and the AMOLED screen but it's defiantly worth the upgrade since the Priv is no longer supported for updates and the KEYone has a least another year or two before support stops. Trust me I went to KEYone and never had any regrets. It's a far better phone.

Thanks. This is very useful.

Do you really notice the downgrade of the screen?

The screen is only a downgrade if you like AMOLED. I hate it, so I like the KEYone screen better.

Why downgrade to the inferior K1? The Essential Phone is a better phone and is cheaper, you would be nuts to get a K1 at this point. Perhaps one more year of updates? Not worth it for a keyboard.

That's true for people who don't care about a keyboard. But for some people the keyboard is a huge issue.

Think of KEYone as second generation device. Battery life is far better. At this point, decide whether PKB or VKB is more important to you and pick KEYone or Motion accordingly.

If you're buying a KEYone, you're buying it for PKB. That's it. No other reason. At this point, Essential Phone is a commercial failure. There aren't many companies in worse financial shape right now, in the phone hardware business.

Pretty much this. The KeyOne is under discussion purely because of the keyboard. But I also can't imagine recommending the Essential phone at this point.

I owned PRIV and now I own KEYone and I prefer KEYone hands down. PRIV feels sluggish, it gets hot, battery is average and camera is not as good as KEYone.

My biggest reason why I switched to KEYone was the battery. Keyone is so much better. I never think about keyone battery because it lasts long and it recharges fast.

Lol Essential over KEYone?

The Essential has been deemed to be the worst phone of the year as far as repairability goes. It's been reported that it's literally almost impossible to properly disassemble and fix something. For that reason alone I say it sucks!
The KEYone on the other hand is one of the easier phones to tear down.
Don't believe me? Watch JerryRigEverything's videos on it

Oh and the KEYone should get 2 more years of security updates at this point, since it's in the narrow list of recommended Android devices for enterprise.
