So I made my monthly visit to the local Verizon store to kick the tires on some of the new phones and the Fascinate is no longer on display. The LG Revolution has taken the place of the Fascinate for the High end Bing phone. (Why I consider this a category, I do not know, but is seems to exist). I am sure that means we will be seeing the Galaxy S II in all of its binged up glory soon.

Maybe, or maybe they just wanted people to spend more money. The vast majority of people in the Verizon store are usually fairly clueless as to what they're really wanting or what devices are available that aren't on display.

I wouldn't start thinking we were kicked to the curb until the phone is no longer available as new on the web site

For what it's worth, I was at a Verizon store last week and several Fascinates were on display.

Verizon doesn't offer a phone worth upgrading to. I held a charge an almost vomited. You need 5 inch thumbs for the thunderbolt. The rest are a clunky funky mess in my opinion. The fascinate has its issues, but there are so many aspects of its design that were a homerun

Verizon has certainly been pushing the Fascinate hard...there was the Mother's Day "Mom needs a Fascinate" commercial, now they are selling them for $49, which includes the vehicle and desk mounts. I have been assuming this is to get them out of inventory to make room for new devices. So at some point it will be gone, but I don't think it's been "kicked to the curb".

The Incredible 2 seems like a pretty solid phone. Maybe not considered an upgrade but still seems like a good phone. It would be an upgrade of sorts if you needed a world phone. Unless by some miracle the SGSII is available before by the end of June I'll probably get a DInc2 for a trip I'm taking.

+1 I've watched and people go in there totally clueless as to what they might want and rely on the sales people to steer them towards a phone. What they don't know is that the sales people often don't have a clue about the phone. Although for the customer who has no clue, the sales guy has more of a clue than the customer.

yea i have coworkers who are coming from a lg dumb phone that cant wait to pick up a revolution and its hard to explain to a normal consumer the "binged out" factor but just add it in to the rest of Verizon's lineup, whom ever they have in charge of consumer demand should be shot. How they determined that we dont want a nexus device and only single core binged to the hilt bad battery life POS phones I'll never be able to figure out!!!!

Well it looks as if "kicked to the curb" is the wrong euphemism, How about "out of the starting line-up". Or "sent down to the minors". Verizon has clearly made a push to clear inventory, and now are no longer going to market the phone.

I guess my point is, Verizon has a hole in the lineup that the Fascinate filled, thin and light. HTC phones are much to "thick" for my tastes, I passionately hate Moto. We are never going to see a Nexus device on Verizon, so my only hope is the SGSII.

You mean the one that built them up to the largest US carrier? This is what most of us forget, people that come here and "chat" and "argue" about phones are the 10% who care, the rest just want something that works. Is Bing's functionality that much worse? No. Will the average user notice ANY difference in functionality? No.

Want proof? How many Fascinates were sold? How many users Rooted to De-bing their phones?

On android central alone... fascinate rooting topics; over 200k views and like 4k in replies. Thats a hefty chunk of interest. You would be suprised at the number of people who would be into the idea of a phone without handcuffs. There is tons of people that buy into the whole root scare the phone companies are serving up. If they were given a green light they would jump all over it

But what MTN_Scott is saying is that the number of people who come here to hack and root their phones is so much smaller than the number of people who are essentially clueless or just don't care to do all that. The mainstream consumers outnumber us 20 to 1 (total guess, but it sounds good), and as such, pay the bills.

And there were 10 Million Galaxy S phone sold last year. As I said 10% at best. How many of us have Wives and GF's that say, "Do not Mess with my phone"?

Exactly. My wife wouldn't let me even Root to get rid of the Bloat she hated until ED01 came out.
