Killing AP News and Yahoo Finance

So my GS2 appears to have come with AP Mobile and Yahoo Finance preinstalled, the former of which, according to "traffic monitor" is sucking up way more bandwidth than it should (200MB over 2.5 weeks?!?)

Am I correct in assuming that in order to kill both of these, I'd need to first root my phone?

To completely uninstall them then you will have to root. I did not have any problem with AP Mobile because I never used the widget until I read about the problem and out of curiosity checked it out. It used data until last week when I did a factory reset and I am not going near the widget again.
