I have a kindle fire and want to install from unknown sources. I've turned on this feature. But when I click on an APK it opens up but "Install" is grayed out. What do I need to do next?

I think I figured it out. Turning on/off the toggle for install from unknown sources a few times worked.

I'm having the same problem. What did you do to get it to finally work? Just keep toggling the "allow installations from unknown sources" option? Silk tells me it can't open the file when I try to install it from its Download folder. So I installed a file manager (ES File Explorer). Using that, I can start the installation, but the option to accept the requested permissions is grayed out.

I finally got it to work for me too by flipping the security toggle back and forth several times. Oddly, it finally worked while it was set to "disallow", though it hadn't worked when I tried that earlier. Sounds like a bug crept into a recent update.

I had the same issue. Maybe Amazon is getting wise about us installing Play store.

Its time limited, or what ever you do will work eventually, as sooner or later it will co incieded with the greyed out function turning off, just let it sit there and then after a while the greying out will stop . Theres even a anti greying out app available,
