How can I get back to my old android version on my s4? I tried everything and the 4.4.4 upgrade is giving me problems

Go to the XDA S4 forum and seeif anyone's posted links to 4.4.3 or 4.4.2 files for your model and carrier. Or look on SamMobile Firmwares

Then use Odin (google it - it's all over the web. Most files name-match with version 3.09 - you can use earlier versions, but then you'd have toremember that the AP file goes into the PDA slot, etc, not like in 3.09, where the AP file goes into the AP slot. They just renamed the slots to match the filenames.) If you get links on XDA, there should be instructions in the thread.

Yes I did the cache partition wipe and dont work. Some apps shut down when are in use, other ones doesn't open and the phone is very slow

After major updates, I usually perform a Factory Data Reset. Backup everything first. That will probably clear up your inconsistencies.

Do you have an SD card inserted? If it's corrupt, it can cause various problems. Try unmounting the card, remove it, and then reboot.

Rooting the phone can set your phone back to a prior version of Android.
That's quite a trick. I have the contacts, so if you can explain how that can happen (copying one file to the /system folder - that's what rooting is) we can both become very wealthy.
