From early reports it sounds like the tablets didn't receive the new launcher or the transparent nav bars :-\
Really crossing my fingers for the n4 to have them.

Even if the stock launcher doesn't have transparent navigation and status bars, 4.4 should allow third-party launchers to add that feature. The Nova Launcher and Action Launcher betas already support this.

I think that's not the point. Sure, Android is a pretty flexible OS and we are able to do a lot of things thanks to app developers. But in my opinion Google is sending a negative signal to Nexus owners. It's saying that basically having a Nexus doesn't guarantee any more to enjoy the latest and greatest experience from Google. I think this is a cheap shot from Google.

Unless the google experience launcher comes to other devices by means of a play store app in the very near future.

I think the transparent navigation bar is especially important to tablet, because the bar really occupies a lot of space when the tablet is in landscape mode.

That's really weird. I may just have to stick with this N5 port then. Pretty darn happy with it right now. I think the only thing missing is compass in maps.

It isn't pushing yet.
