Knock off -Win vs Knock On -Lose. Who else?

^ Not following this. If you're saying knock on is less likely to work if you block the proximity sensor, why would you knock at the top near the sensor?

I don't have any issues with mine ever. I knock anywhere and it comes on like butter. Only if someone can show me the power button location.Joke... I have to say i love the feature because it makes the on off much easier on the phone. At first i did think it would be a + as much as it is.

Curious how many of you totally bypass the lock screen so that knock on takes you right to your homescreen. Anyone?

From my experience, Knock On works 100% of the time when there is nothing covering the proximity sensor. Knock Off works independently of the proximity sensor. For those of you having issues with Knock On, do you have a screen protector installed? Try removing it, or finding a brand that works correctly.

I've only been using mine for a couple of days but I have figured out a couple of things, especially about the "Knock On/Off". One, is that you have to make sure it's secure when you tap it. It won't work well if there's any give because it won't register one of the knocks completely. If it's flat on a table/desk it almost always works. Holding it firmly in one hand while hitting it with the other usually works pretty reliably too. If you're doing it with one hand and you don't have some kind of case to make it more grippable, then you have some issues because it's hard to keep it IN your hand and tap with the same hand. Just too dang slick. It really has to be a good firm contact in rapid succession. Once I got the "feel" it works every time for me.

^ I've found pretty much the same thing, but I always tap with one hand while holding it with the other.

Tell me how to pass on the lock screen. How do you ditch it?

Started me wondering why more of us don't simply bypass the lockscreen. Most of us swipe anyway to get to our Home Screen, so why even go through the lock screen step?

I have a horrible hit rate when trying to open with 1 hand (probably 30-40% of the time it'll open on the first try). However I've also found that knock knocking on a flat surface or with 2 hands greatly improves that. It's just super annoying to have to use 2 hands to turn on a phone. What's the point?

Its easier to just hit the power button on the back!

Here's the reason knock-on won't work in a dark room:

Prox sensor = a light sensor. If it's dark then it's guessing that it's sitting in your darkened pocket and, therefore, shouldn't assume the random knocks from your leg are knock-ons.

So, if you're in a dark theater or bedroom, forget knock-on altogether. It likely won't work.

Curious for those having problems
Does it work if on the second knock you hold your finger down until the light comes on? ( a knock knock and hold)

For what its worth... i had been having an issue with knock on since i bought the phone. Also i had been having an issue with the screen fading to black within a second or two of waking it from sleep with the power button. Today i bought a plain silicone case from a verizon store. Since i put the phone in the case it has not had an issue. Knock on works every time, even in lightless conditions. And no more power button fade outs.
Ps. I had reset and rebooted my G2 prior to the new case with no luck.

I find that tapping on the middle to upper portion knocks on and I have to tap the status bar to knock off. Not sure if running Apex launcher impacts that at all for the knock off. The manual says to knock off in any blank area of the screen or status bar.
Sometimes I just use the power button.

Try knocking just above the LG logo at the bottom. Seems more reliable for me.

This...

I have to test more thoroughly, but this and the "tap and hold (gently)" gets my success % near 100%.

I love this freakin' phone.

One reason would be in case knock on accidentally triggers its another safeguard to keep from accidentally calling someone or such.

My Knock Off works 100% of the time. My Knock On? I've got it up to about 95% of the time. When I first got the phone my Knock On success rate was about 25%.
