I actually wouldn't mind just running a stock Android OS. Don't get me wrong, I do like the Sense UI, but I had absolutely no problem running stock on my Motorola Droid. The only reason I upgraded to the Incredible was to get rid of the physical keyboard.

Pdanet gives you free tethering now, you don't need root for that. The other stuff is just not ethical at all, doing things like that is what causes phone insurance prices to end up being higher and higher. I remember when insurance only cost $1.99 a month......grr.
I'm amazed by some of the comments over on xda and the "Entitled Gen" explains a lot of it. my oldest son is starting to sound like that (give me everything and don't ask for anything in return) and its driving me and my wife crazy.
What causes insurance to go higher is the insurance companies greed. They would like people to believe that costs will be low if they never actually us the insurance they pay for though. So congratulations on being duped.
Indeed and I digress. Back on topic, has anyone gotten any additional word how close root is to happening? Or since I don't develop can anyone give a reason why it would take so long when the EVO already achieved it?
Maybe the title of this thread should be changed to "Ladiez and Gentlemen : WE GOT A HOAX OF ROOT!" lol.

The only reason the Evo got rooted is because when Sprint added their touches onto the Evo they left some security holes in it and they got EXTREMELY LUCKY! I was just talking to the people who actually rooted the Evo. They said it left HTC basically the same as the Droid Incred. but when Sprint did their twist on it they messed up. Hopefully root is not too far off on the Dinc. I know devs are working really really hard 24/7 on rooting it and they have been making progress. Shadowmite.com Blog that's their website and they post updates on rooting the Incredible. They don't post like every single little update but decent ones will be posted
