Ladiez and Gentlemen : WE HAVE ROOT!

I'm ready for 2.2 as well - I have heard wonderful things about battery life with it (along with the other obvious benefits). I'd like to be able to run straight 2.2 instead of waiting for HTC and Verizon to sign off on the Sensed-over version of it whenver that shows up.

there is no build of 2.2 for our phone out there. the one for the nexus one is built for a gsm device, so no cdma radios.

without root and custom recovery, no modified 2.2 ROM is installable.

enough reasons? :)

i dont care about 2.2 i just want to be able to turn my incredible into a hot spot

Read the directions. Work really nice for me. I just turn it on, pair it with my computer and change my connection from LAN to bluetooth modem. Boom internet.

Very interesting. I'm following the thread over there now. Seems there has been 2 rooted from the dev team and a couple more claiming later on in the thread! Sounds like good news so far!!

Ok I can't hold off till tomorrow. I'm going to try the exploit and see what happens.

**EDIT**
Ok going to stop for the night/morning. Hopefully after I sleep on it a bit the phone/adb will decide to play nicely for me. Couldn't ever get adb to hit the race so I could slip the hack into it. DOH!

I think I'll wait a bit. I used to update the ROM in my Omnia almost monthly, but I'm so happy with this phone, I'm just not in a big hurry.

It works. I was able to root my DI in recovery mode...but I chickened out on making any changes or removing any software. Not sure wha the next OTA update has in store and really don't want to brick this thing.

It doesn't work fully right now. After a reboot you lose root. Playing around with chmod rights this morning proved to be promising but not a fix either. Also some people have really messed things up putting SuperUser.apk on the phone. So it's not fully a root yet.

Glad I got rid of CityID though, and I got my Google Voice invite today as well!! Been a good Android day for me ;)
