Yep. Since the last election was close, the independents in parliament has to choose whether they are sticking with the current government (labour) due to the leadership change, If not the other party (liberal) would become in power. Presuming the governor general (person whose been appointed a representative of the queen) signs off on it.

Most likely the current gov will stay in power with the leadership change but will lose the election coming up on the next few months.

Basically the leadership change occurred as polls show the opposition will win the next election by a landslide. Thus they put the old prime minister who got back stabbed my the current back as leader.

American politics are so much simpler...until you realize that in America everything is dumbed down and nearly half of all voters have no clue who they are truly voting for. I blame the media.

Not even that. We don't even get to vote for our own president thanks to the electoral collage. Our vote is like an opinion and that just sucks.

Well electoral college takes majority from that state. That's all. So your vote does matter, but not as much as some think it does

Ours is your vote for your local representative. The party with more than half the representatives in parliament is the government. Hence on a close on when the two major ones are short, they try and get individual parliament members or small parties to merge with them.

Agreed! I hated her since she came in power. I enjoyed K Rudd, but I am more of a liberal voter but I prefer some members on the labor.

Ha. I miss our old old one John Howard, people disliked how he got a long with George bush so much and for controversial policies. I felt like he did what was best for the country no matter how popular the choice was.

Ha. My teacher never cared. Distracted her by discussing TV shows.
