Just noticed that the battery is draining faster than normal since the last security update.
I have a Sprint version LG v20

I have the same problem with software and clusters of app updates. I boot the phone into recovery and wipe the system partition cache and that usually does the trick and you don't lose all of your data like a factory reset.

1. You have to wait for the OS to settle in, Android Nougat will recognize your habits and conserve battery that way. Same thing when you first set up your phone or do a factory reset. Can take a week up to a whole month.

2. Disable useless apps that are constantly running in the background such as LG SmartWorld (which regularly collects your data) and other preinstalled apps like Google Plus, Hangouts, etc. which you don't really need. Go to settings > general > apps (then click show system) > then go through every single app and disable the ones you don't use. If you cannot disable an app, look up how to remove apps through ADB commands.

3. Try clearing your cache or even a factory reset.. a factory reset is recommended whenever you update your phone since there's a lot of complications and junk during the process, it's best to start fresh.

All excellent advice but I'm not doing a factory reset unless I have a brand new phone! I cannot even begin to remember all of the "tricks" I applied to get my phone working exactly as I like.
