Late-nite Sprint Kyocera Echo Q&A

I honestly think sprint fumbled the ball here. You have to ask yourself "Do I really want a two year commitment on a Nintendo DS look a like?" I guess my question would be "How WOW were you at this BIG press conference when you saw that this was IT?"

If Sprint doesn't come up with a high-end device by summer, is there any compelling reason for someone to switch from the EVO or Epic?

I think it's safe to say this isn't the only device Sprint has in the pipeline.

Do you think it's a good move for sprint?

Actually, I like it when carriers and manufacturers try new things. I'm still disappointed the Samsung Continuum didn't do better. There are a bunch of factors that lead to a phone not doing well.

Kind of like politics. Going to the center likely is safe in the long run.

How much of that little battery for those two big screens did you use while playing with it for a few minutes?
25%?

No, really...it's a serious question.

Didn't look, but I doubt (or at least hope) it wasn't that much.

If nothing else I like that the manufacturers are taking risks and not just delivering us another slab but honestly do you think this device warranted this much publicity?

Eh, if you low-key device launches, why would anyone care? I don't fault anyone for making a big deal out of things. Hell, Apple's made an art out of it. :p

my question would be would the phone landscape the keyboard the other way across the two screens? and since most app are not dual screen supported can the second screen remain dedicated keyboard

Cop-out answer: It's my job to cover this stuff, and it's my job to be skeptical. I like that they're trying something different. Will it work? That's up to you guys.

But, yeah. You can't help think that it looks like someone wanted to beat Nintendo to the DS-smartphone market, and I'm worried about the hardware. Some of that is timing. You just can't pack the latest and greatest into every release.

Ooooooooo. Good questions. Will check on that in the morning.

just for clarification... it has 512mb of RAM, correct? didn't see it listed on spec sheets.

Thanks Phil, to me they really have to bring something because to me tmobile is stealing the show, when is sprint going to get some love from the big manufacturers btw love the site and podcast and crew

You think that one of the screens could be used for a d-pad? On that note, did the phone run smooth? Good for gaming?

For those interested in a device such as this, would you say it would be worth grabbing this when available and holding on to that 2 year contract, or would we be better off waiting for a new, possibly better (dual core, 4G, improved multitasking capability, etc.), dual screen phone to emerge on the horizon?

Which snapdragon does it have, the newer ones included in the G2/DHD/DZ/Evo shift or the "old" ones like we got in the OG evo?

Not getting it either way, just wondering :p

I wouldn't get this phone if it was offered to me completely free and off-contract. I'd much rather have a dual-core Evo 2 in summer...
