My LG V30 is less than 3 months old and had been working perfectly until this morning when I ran the most recent update to Android Oreo, and now I have a black screen after I enter my password. I tried restarting the phone, and I can receive texts, phone calls, emails, etc. but when I click on the notifications, which actually appear, in order to read them through, the screen goes black. I also can't see any of my apps to launch them since my home screen is black and I can't make outgoing calls, except from my car when the bluetooth is on. So the phone seems to be OK but for the screen, and I have got to assume it is the update that has caused this. The people at T-Mobile and phone repair techies at a local fixit store have not seen this before and they couldn't solve my problem. Has anyone else got this problem, and how do I fix it?

Unfortunately you're going to have to factory reset your phone.

Here are the steps:

1. Hold down your power and volume down button until the LG V30 screen appear
2. When the screen appears, release the power button and volume down
3. When you see the T- Mobile screen, hold down the volume down button until your lock screen come on and say "Safe Mode" and the bottom left corner.
4. Once into "Safe Mode", if you have pictures or contacts that needs to be save, save them on your SD card.
5. Go to the Settings and do the factory reset. Do not check the box that reads "Erase SD Card"

Once you do the Factory Reset, the new Android Update will be installed on your phone. You shouldn't have anymore problems.

Trust me. I was at work flipping out because my phone when blackscreen too. McAffee dont like the new update for some odd reason.

I hope this help.

Went to T-Mobile store and they couldn't figure out a way to do it either. Suggested factory reset or new phone...

So after seeing the reply below, I decided to login into my mcaffee account and play with it (tmobile.mcafeemobilesecurity.com). After logging in, I went into My Device >> Alarm and activated the alarm. It worked! Alarm sounded on phone, screen lighted up and after stopping the alarm I could see my home screen. Everything working now... fingers crossed!

Try this first (just read a comment on another forum about this), boot into safe mode and uninstall macafee bloatware, reboot.

Should be fine.

Edit: macafee is tmobile bloatware (so this will probably only work if you have tmobile)

I'm on T-mobile, and had no issues at all except that my wifi automatically hooks up to my weaker router signal instead of my stronger extender signal sometimes
