Latest OTA rooted!

So lets break it down. You followed all of those steps, so now you have root and superuser control yes?

In which case, to flash custom roms. Read all of this first.

1. Download clockwork rom manager from the appstore.
2. Run Clockwork and install the custom recovery (first option)
3. Back up your current rom (scroll down option 8)
4. Phone will restart after step 3, Download your favorite ROM, and put it on your SD card.
5. In clockwork select the option "install rom from sd card"
6. Allow it to takes its course, phone will restart after.

Thats all folks.

Also if you want to try and keep your settings, download "Titanium" and back up all apps and data first, then do step 1. (in titanium press menu, then batch, select "back up all apps and user data")

This may be a dumb question...or maybe I'm confused. I haven't used this method and I am updated to the newest OTA. I just want to clarify the above post. If you use this method it requires you to do a factory reset at the beginning of everything...at which point can you use Titanium to back up your settings? Or are you talking about after you Root, you set up all your settings again, then backup the settings with Titanium before you start flashing ROMs? This is why I haven't used this method yet because it does require you to FR at the beginning.

Titanium is only used if already rooted. Therefore in your case you would lose all settings because you cant back it up with Titanium. Or use the steps he said by using Clockwork to recover. Or there is another option, wont put your layout back but it backs up all data and apps, My Backup Pro from the market.

Thanks, yeah I understand. I just didn't know at what point Liquid was suggesting to use Titanium. I didn't want someone to come in and get all flustered when they couldn't get Titanium to work and had already did a FR and now lost their setting and such.

Oh that was my bad, copied that from when people were using the unrevoked method still for temp root.

Hmm, saw this and it made me wonder; went through the process of rooting the new OTA. Everything went through and I think I have to do your Step 2, the nand backup etc etc. Is that when I finally see the 'superuser control?' Because as it stands right now, I see new icons for things ... guide said I was rooted, but the nand is like the official next step? That's when I get superuser permissions and I follow your above mentioned steps?

:o

nah, if your rooted you have super user. Nand lets you make backups of your phone.

>.<
That's the impression I got, that if I correctly rooted the device I'd just see this superuser access, but I just read someone mentioning the superuser apk for it ... I don't believe I've seen that exactly worded like that. I'm clearly missing something ... I have Dev Tools, which is new, and other stuff that leads me to believe I didn't prevent at least some change from taking place.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

edit: ok, and so any superuser.apk will suffice? it's all the same one? i don't know how I missed this ....

you can download a super user app from the market i think. There should be one that looks like a ninja.

Ok, super quick man. Am I able to somehow try and just start over? This is ridiculous, I followed this guide and now it seems like it is a wee bit different. I got the symbol that stated it was rooted, but I don't believe the guide at the time "mentioned" that I was to type su and enable super user permissions .... also almost seems like an additional file is in the guide. Not a mirror, but something different.

Must .... start ... over

liquid... I just downloaded one of the zips of the ROMs from that one ALL ROMS thread you posted. Do I extract the zip into the SD card or just copy and paste that zip?

and also how would Clockwork Recovery work with other ROMs posted on XDA? I notice some of them have special instructions.

to give credit where its due, i didn't post the all rom's thread =)

but to answer your question, just put the .zip on your sd card, you can copy-paste or adb push, whichever you prefer.

then you can use clockwork. If a dev has special instructions always folow those first if you want the rom to work as the dev intended. But the process for most are the same:

(In recovery mode) wipe>flash>reboot

I rooted to the BakedSnack ROM... and everytime I restored my apps and data with My Backup, my phone would go into this reboot cycle. I know its something conflicting but I don't have time to figure it out so I'm just reinstalling my ROM backup.
