Latest response from Samsung re: sm-p600:
"As this is the 2014 edition tablet, the update might be released to the device in near future. However, we are unable to speculate when/if a software version might be available due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information.

Once the update is available, you will receive a notification on the tablet and you can update if Over the Air or by connecting it to the Smart Switch application."

My latest response to samsung

You have lost customers for the rest of my life. I, or any member of my family, will never ever buy from this POS company.

A Nexus device running pure Android would likely be a better option.

And whats your alternative , going to Microsoft?

I decided to just flash a custom ROM. I found this really nice ROM on XDA. Basically it's unofficial temasek builds, and it is amazing! It's fast, there's amazing battery life (I'm able to get six hours of screen on time!), there's hardly any bloatware, it's based off of cm. The only downside is that I had to void the warranty that I was never going to use anyways.

For example: recently I had five and a half hours of screen on time at 30% battery life, and most of the time I was watching stuff on Netflix.

I'm still on the fence since my smp600 is only a few months from new. I've flashed a crop of Acer a500's successfully many times, and a few NBE's (near brick ed experiences) that I always fixed. I'm now working on the process for this Samsung. Should I wait for another official OTA, or bite the bullet on the Temasek ROM? Any tips on your process? I had to almost beat my Win 7 laptop to get Odin to see my tab. What gapps and recovery did you use? I will appreciate your insight. ;-DeanoD

I recommend going with the temasek ROM. And you probably already know this, but make sure that you backup the stock Samsung ROM. Here is the link to the ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...t/lt03wifi-temaseks-unofficial-build-t2980604

Link to gapps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/gapps-google-apps-minimal-edition-t2943330 (keep in mind that you need the gapps for Android 5.1×)

I use twrp 2.8.6

One more thing: if you're using twrp make sure that it is either 2.8.6 or 2.6.3.3 because those are the only versions that work 100% with this tablet.

I really want to get the temasek ROM set up, and I'm MOSTLY good to go with what goes where. But, I'm fuzzy about the "when" as in which order. I've got the files I think I need d/led. I had to tweak the samsung drivers, and odin is on the laptop. Then I need to run CF root. And flash the recovery is next? My big issue is that one site says to d/l the current stock 4.2 KitKat, and you're saying to back it up. I read that if the tab reboots without the extra flash of the stock ROM I would lose root. How did you back it up? Could Titanium work for that? And also which is the best way to flash new ROMs -from odin with a pc, or flashify, rashr, or just the new recovery? Sorry for all the questions, but it is sometimes difficult to find someone that willingly lets me pick their brain. Thanks for all the input. ;-Deano

You back up the ROM using the recovery. And yes you should flash the recovery now. The best way to flash ROMs is through recovery. You can backup your apps and their data files with titanium backup.

Has anybody else seen or used the Unified Android Toolbox from XDA? If it does HALF of what they say, it could be a gamechanger for flashing ROMs. I'll post the link if anyone wants it. ;-Deano
